My experience with Oxygene Ski School

My 2 Children's Journey with Oxygene

Having two young ski enthusiasts in the family, we've trusted Oxygene Ski School to shape their skiing skills. Both of my children have embarked on their skiing journey with Oxygene and had an absolute blast. My oldest, Odin, started just under 3 years old. In hindsight was probably too small! But he had a great time with instructor Crystal in the snow garden in Plagne Centre. Crystal has run the snow garden for nearly 20 years, I think, and is fantastic! My youngest, Phoenix, was 2 when he started skiing with Oxygene and also progressed quickly with Crystal in the ski garden.

As they progressed through the levels, we have always been super happy with their instructors who have made their lessons fun and always provided great feedback for us. The instructors' friendly approach and engaging teaching fashion kept them excited and eager to hit the slopes every morning.

Support for young ones

Now, let's talk about my youngest, Phoenix. He had no problem with the snow garden and lower levels of ski groups. But as he has gotten older, he has more anxiety about joining ski school and found group lessons a bit challenging.

I found myself in the unfortunate position of being the parent with the crying child at the ski school drop off point! There were tearful drop-offs as separation anxiety kicked in. And it became quite stressful dropping him off to lessons. However, the instructors at Oxygene were incredibly understanding and patient. They created a nurturing environment that eventually helped my little one transition smoothly. It really is heartwarming to witness such compassion from the instructors and to know that your children are not a problem to their instructor – even if they are tearful or tantrums!

Ski badges for the kids

When I worked for a ski tour operator, I didn’t understand how important these medals were. Now, I have 2 kids I know!

At the end of a week of group ski lessons, your kids will get a small book marking off their progress and also a badge for their ski level. The kids wear these with pride, plus the ski books are great to take on your next ski holiday to show the ski school on your next ski holiday. It’s lovely to see the messages written by the different instructors over the years. It’s a lovely memento of their ski school journey.
