WEEKLY LA PLAGNE WINTER 23/24 SNOW REPORTS & NEWS

La Plagne Snow Report 13th March 2024

What’s going on with the snow forecasts?!

Good question…

Over the last few weeks, the forecasts for La Plagne (and other resorts, I think) have been wild! As in wildly inaccurate! 😅

A few of you have asked what sites I’m using and at this point I’m crowd sourcing info from several weather and snow sites, plus speaking to the local authorities in resort. And piecing it together…!

All this to say – I’m waking up, looking out the window, and going with that! 🤣 Literally yesterday I put a report out saying it was going to be overcast most of the week. And I’ve just done this report from the sunny terrace of Monicas in Plagne Soleil… so always check the weather on the day.

Temperatures have crept back up above 0C and it feels comfortably warm enough at lunch to enjoy eating outdoors.

Snow coverage is still pretty solid, not looking too patchy around 2000m and higher. It had some fresh snow earlier this week and is looking 🫶. Lower down, it is softening up, and although the pistes are well groomed and maintained, the snow quality is dropping.

The best news is the pistes are QUIET! All the kids are back to school and the pistes are much emptier.

Après ski is bouncing, though, as the locals and seasonal workers celebrate the end of the Feb madness! So expect to see après ski heading outdoors, parties and events!

Don’t forget its St Patricks this weekend when everyone magically becomes Irish. There’s be parties all over La Plagne – so keep an eye on @thatslaplagne and I’ll share the best places to head later this week.

That’s it from me, any questions drop them below.

See you on the slopes!

La Plagne Snow Report 28th February 2024

Have you heard? Winter is over…

Just kidding!

The snow has arrived for the end of Feb. We had a dump on Monday morning, around 20 cm snow.

Temps are dropping again to be consistently around 0C or lower.

And it looks like snow is on the way again this weekend – but I’ll wait until a little closer to the date to trust the forecast!

Current snow conditions are well groomed, softening up in the afternoons, more from the amount of people than the temperatures.

It is still busy for the last week of 1/2 term. But next week, as we move into March, the crowds should drop considerably.

Drop me any questions about La Plagne, from snow, skiing to bars, restaurants and family fun activities. I’m here to answer your questions!

Snow Report La Plagne 21st February

❄️ Look’s like the snow is coming!

We’ve had a dusting but there is a good amount forecast for the end of this week.

Temperatures are dropping consistently below 0C for the first time in a while – just what we needed to see!

And it’s time for a change from the bluebird skies to clouds and greyer days – which bring the snow, so we’re ok with that! But it does mean some changes in ski conditions.

It is still Feb 1/2 term, so pistes are busy. Although, there are still quiet spots to be found at the right times. Yes, if you hit the main lifts when ski school is kicking off or the last lift home at 4 pm, it’s gonna be busy (Bergerie, Arpette & Colossus, I’m looking at you!)

Top Tips:

❄️ Check the daily forecasts for temps & weather conditions

❄️ Use the resort webcams to see the weather – and lift lines! – in real time

❄️ Dress for the right weather: layers, high-vis clothing or low light goggles etc will make all the difference to your fun on the slopes

The avalanche is still 2/5, but it’s likely to change as the snow arrives. So stay safe if you are heading out to play in the powder.

See you on the slopes!

La Plagne Snow Report 14th February 2024

La Plagne Feb 14 Snow Report

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Welcome to peak Feb 1/2 term skiing!

The resorts feeling much busier than last week already. With longer lines at lifts and misses pistes.

There are still quiet spots though – if you know where to look!*

WHERE TO FIND THE QUIET SLOPES

❄️ It’s also quiet over the lunch slot 1230-1430 consistently quiet over the last few days

❄️ Glacier in the mornings

❄️ Outskirts of the piste map

The snow is much softer than last week. But sugary rather than slushy. South facing slopes are slush though and we’re seeing brown patches in places.

Pistes are really well groomed. It’s not chopping up through the day.

Off piste is crunchy! Honestly better conditions on piste than off.

Temps regularly over 0C and tomorrow forecast for +7C *search empty pistes on That’s La Plagne blog!

La Plagne Snow Report 2nd February 2024

La Plagne Snow Report

Saturday 2nd February

As if it’s February already! The pistes are still fairly calm and quiet before the 1/w term starts soon. Enjoy it while it lasts!

The temps have stayed warm. It is firmly over 0C all week and looks likely to stay there throughout most of next week but

WARNING! Looks like the temp is dropping dramatically on Friday, back to below zero and possibly some snow on the forecast? I’ll keep you posted!

When I reported last, it was pretty icy out there! Since then, it’s loosened up. It’s definitely not slushy, spring conditions thought. Think more hardpacked with patches of ice. Rule of thumb seems to be:

North facing – staying consistently hardpacked all-day

South facing – hard/icy in the morning, softer in the afternoon

Patches in the share are staying quite icy where, whereas sunny spots are more groomed and hard-packed.

People reporting good ski conditions all the way into the valley villages – with Montalbert less icy than Montchavin. And great, solid conditions up high.

Snow levels reported today at:

Glacier 3000m: 305 cm

Valley 1250m: 40 cm

Avalanche risk: 2/5

See you on the slopes!

La Plagne Snow Report 27th January 2024

La Plagne Snow Report – Saturday 27th January

Keep following @thatslaplagne for more like this.

January has been busy – for January! But the pistes are still pretty quiet; it's just surprising to find queues at lifts. But nothing compared to Christmas – or February!

It's warmed up a lot since I last reported! Looking at +3C most days this week, with minimal windchill. So bright sunny skies, but it does mean the pistes are getting icy under-ski.

The places in shade are much more icy than sunny spots that are softening up. However, it’s a real mixed bag with great, groomed pistes running into glassy, icy spots.

TOP TIP: Get your edges sharpened!

Avalanche risk has dropped to 2/5, the off-piste is totally tracked out, and now is not the time to head off exploring. If you're desperate to explore backcountry, book a guide and get some local advice.

Snow levels reported today at: Glacier 3000m: 350 cm Valley 1250m: 40 cm

See you on the slopes!

La Plagne Snow Report 17th January 2024

La Plagne 17th January Snow Forecast

Well, the snow forecast has been true to form so far this week!

❄️ We had snow earlier this week, but today, Wednesday, the temperatures have crept up above 0C, currently 4C, so it is raining here in Plagne Centre (2000m). The freeze level is about 2500m. It was snowing at Grande Rochette the morning, so this seems accurate.

❄️ Tonight, the temperatures should drop down to -4C🙏 and forecast 18cm+ snow.

The rest of the week is looking sub-zero, cloudy and snowy, with the sun popping back on Saturday.

Avalanche risk is still at 3/5, although this might change with big snowfall this week.

The pistes are quiet again this week, and we were feeling great earlier this week. But today, it’s sticky underfoot on the lower slopes, with wet slushy snow sucking at your skis!

❄️ Reported snow levels are: Valley villages 1250m: 30 cm Glacier, 3000m: 300 cms

La Plagne Snow Report 10th January 2024

La Plagne Jan 10th Snow Report

❄️ So much quieter after the festive weeks!

Great to see empty, quieter pistes this week.

❄️ After lots of snowfall over the Christmas break, the off-piste is looking amazing; Avalanche risk 3/5.

But with quite cloudy skies and flat light this week, it’s not the week to be exploring new areas without a guide and a crew of good, safe skiers.

The pistes are really well groomed and staying hardpacked and not moguls up because there are fewer people on the runs.

❄️ Temps around -5C today, and warming up to -1C tomorrow, with some sun coming out.

❄️ Current snow levels are reported as: Valley 1200m: 30cm Glacier 3000m: 300cm

See you on the slopes!

La Plagne Snow Report 3rd January 2024

La Plagne Jan 3rd Snow Report

Blue skies & fresh snow on piste!

We didn’t have the 15+cms forecast for yesterday, but I reckon at least 10 cms. And only above 2000m – so up above Plagne Centre.

Temps -2C and dropping to -4/5C tonight and tomorrow.

The avalanche risk is currently 3/5 but expected to rise if we get the snowfall tonight.

It’s super busy everywhere for New Year, even through the lunch break, it’s better, but not quiet.

And enjoy me telling you to stay safe off piste while my 5 year old skis off into the powder and get stuck. 🤣

See you on the slopes.

La Plagne Snow Report 28th December 2023

La Plagne snow report 28 DECEMBER

Happy Christmas week!

The slopes are much busier this week with the festive crowds. Ski schools are busy, as they will be next week. So if you need lessons, get booking!

The snow on piste is hard packed and great for carving. Off piste, we haven’t had fresh snow since the opening week.

Temperature is hovering around 0C with the freeze level at 2000m.

Looks like we might have a little snow over the weekend. But only about 5 cm.

See you for New Year on the slopes!!

La Plagne Snow Report 20th December 2023

La Plagne Snow Report 20th December Sorry for the poor visibility! It’s been blue skies and quiet pistes all week – apart from today! We’ve been chasing the sun today with the webcams, but I timed this snow report badly, and we’re in a whiteout!

❄️ Fresh snow on the way – 15-20 cm over the next 2 days

❄️Current temp is -2C at the Grande a Rochette where we were.

❄️ Dropping to -4/5C over the next 2 days

Snow levels are reported as follows:

31cms at the lower resorts 270 cms at highest altitudes

La Plagne snow report 9th of April.

Spring skiing conditions this Easter weekend are pretty fantastic.

All the villages and areas on the piste map are open around La Plagne.

The lower villages are very green now off of the piste it is looking super like spring but the pistes are still groomed and open to ski all the way into the villages.

It is very cold still here but you can see it is sunny and blue skies today. It does look like the weather is changing. And the clouds are coming in from tomorrow. We do have some snow forecast as from Wednesday possibly 20+ centimetres which would be incredible. But the temperature is also warming up and we are looking at a freeze level of above 2500 metres; that would be on a level with Belle Plagne to the Roche de Mio kind of area. So it possible that it will be raining not snowing around the resort. The avalanche risk remains low. There is a lot of exploring happening in the back country. And you can see lines being cut in all over the resort and people are starting to tour and hike more and more. I would always suggest caution and make sure you get a guide to take you that knows the area well.

For typically peak week, as in an Easter school holiday week, the pistes are incredibly quiet and the resort as a whole is very quiet. Very little traffic on the road. Lots of parking peace to yourself.

Really is a fantastic week to be in the mountains. So enjoy.

This has been Jen for That's La Plagne.

See you on the slopes.

La Plagne snow forecast and weather report 2 April.

Well, what a week it has been. We have had rain, hot sunny blue skies, and then freezing cold temperatures and dumping snow.

But at the end of the week, the important thing is that we had about 30 to 40 cm of snow at Plagne Centre level, which is about 2000m. And up higher, Aime 2000, Belle Plagne, and up to Roche de Mio and the Glacier, we had at least 50 cm of fresh snow if not more.

It is pretty heavy in places because the temperature has been warm. But the soft snow has still been a lot of fun to play in.

This coming week, the temperatures are dropping and staying consistently below zero, minus six to about minus eight.

It doesn't look too windy, but it does look like the freeze level is staying nice and low and at about 1500 meters just above Mont Albert, Mont Chavin, and Les Coches.

The avalanche risk stays at three out of five. But I would keep an eye on this as we move into spring conditions that will change the condition of the slopes depending on whether they're North or South facing, and the conditions will be unstable. So again, if you're having an off-piste day, get some advice and a guide.

This is Jen, That's La Plagne. See you on the slopes!

La Plagne snow report 26th of March

It's snowing hard here in Plagne Centre, just under 2000 metres high and it looks like it is snowing all the way down to about 1400 metres.

At village level in the lower valleys MontChavin, Les Coches and MontAlbert. 1200m. There is snow on the pistes all the way down into the villages. But either side of the piste is very green and it is very wet. So let's hope for some colder temperatures for our valley villages.

It isn't big, heavy snowflakes but they are small and consistent and it is light and powdery. It is quite windy higher up as well, 20km winds reported. And quite unpleasant conditions for those that are out skiing lifts are open.

But the higher altitudes the glacier here for example are of course closed. It looks setting for the rest of today and throughout Monday, maybe Tuesday. With the weather warming up from Wednesday.

The avalanche risk is three out of five, so middle to higher than usual. So do be careful when you're out there.

As you can see visibility is minimal right now. So low light goggles and lots of layers. And stay safe out there.

I will keep you updated throughout the week on the ongoing current conditions.

And that's La Plagne!

19th March 2023 La Plagne Snow Report

La Plagne weather forecast 19th of March

A little bit different today because I can't ski or snowboard as I broke my ribs this weekend. So we're doing the report from my balcony today.

It has been snowing on and off throughout today at 2000 metres here in Plagne Centre and I've also been up to Belle Plagne where it was snowing really nicely there as well. So fingers crossed up high and the glacier lots of fresh snow up there.

However, it is quite warm and so the snow is a little heavy and the temperature looks like it's really increasing over the coming few days.

We do have more snow on the forecast from Wednesday. But once again we need this freeze level to drop below 2000 metres to really be reassured that snow is coming in and not rain.

The on piste conditions remain great. The off piste was good however, it's been very warm and it has been tracked out quite quickly. The avalanche risk is three out of five. If you're looking to head off piste. Get some local advice or a guide. Always my recommendation.

Hopefully my ribs will heal quick and I will see you back on the slopes.

Snow report from La Plagne for March the 12th. So if you've been following my account, the snow conditions and weather conditions have been a mixed bag. We have had deep deep snow and then the temperatures have increased and we've had rain and then we've had snow and freezing overnight so it really is a mix right now the snow conditions are incredible up high at Roche de Mio at 2700 metres soft, fluffy powder on the piste and people are heading off piste as well although the avalanche risk is high up four out of five. Lower down from about 2000 metres. The pistes are a lot wetter. They aren't slushy, but it's that kind of heavy, chunky, wet snow but it is much better than the hard-packed icy pistes that we were looking at so you can cut a really nice edge and get a nice carve on your skis or your board the conditions for the rest of the week are again a little all over the place. So we are looking at some heavy snowfall coming in. But the freeze levels up and down so I would check the forecast every day and I would pack for all eventualities. This has been Jen for That’s La Plagne. I hope to see you on the paste come and say hi if you see me and if you've got any questions about the snow conditions hit me up in the comments below.

SNOW REPORT: LA PLAGNE 26 FEB

❄️ Writing this after I got home because ITS COLD! 🤩 Finally!

❄️ Snow falling in big floaty flakes in @la_plagne – and hopefully with the freeze level down below 1000m it’s falling all the way to the lower villages : Montchavin, Les Coches, MontAlbert and Champagny. 🤞

❄️ Forecast 5cms today – which looks possible. Then stopping but with some more forecast for midweek.

❄️ Temperatures staying low – comfortably below freezing so wrap up warm. Layers & lowlight goggles this week I think!

❄️ It’s still likely to be busy as the UK hols are over but we’ve still got the Belgian and Paris holidays happening.

Temperatures are warm but cooling down. Don’t forget the sun cream and you can relax on how many layers you need!

The pistes are firm but softening up by later afternoon. They are looking polished in the busy feeder cross sections. Plus still busy for 1/2 term this week.

I’d still recommend heading out early before the ski schools start. Or staying out through lunch. Both things mean you avoid the crowds and also get to enjoy the firmer snow before it softens up in the afternoons.

Snow is pretty good. Well groomed.

Red pistes much quieter than blues – and better snow conditions too.

The pisteurs are doing a fab job grooming each night. But they are now getting chopped up during the day and very soft by the end of the day.

It’s getting warmer! I’ve taken off layers and double down on the sun cream.

❄️Get those edges checked.

Another sunny blue sky day in La Plagne!

Since it snowed mid-January, we haven’t had any more fresh stuff falling. But the temperature has been constantly below zero, keeping the pistes in great condition.

Off-piste is totally tracked out now unless you’ve got a guide and are heading into the backcountry.

Looking forward, there’s no snow forecast. But it is staying COLD! So wrap up warm – layers are your friend.

It’s not too busy this week, but 1/2 term has started, and next week it’s going to be full peak season. So check out my other posts for top tips to avoid the crowd.

❄️Snow is amazing!! We’ve had some decent dumps over the last week and we’ve got another 50cms on the way this week! 🥳

🥶But the temp is dropping too – we’re looking at -10 from Weds and even -20 with windchill!

🔥Wrap up warm! Layers are key and good socks!

🔥Pick some hot choc stops to keep the kids motivated.

Visibility is patchy. So low light goggles for sure. Buffs and face covers are a good shout! The lower runs between the trees are better for vis- MontChavin, Mont Albert. And the snow is good at the lower levels now. So enjoy!

8th January 2023 La Plagne Snow Report

Play Video about La Plagne Live Snow Report

Hi, welcome to this week's snow forecast.

So, if you've been following my recent posts, you'll know that we had a massive dump alert for this week. And we were expecting about 30 centimeters, at least, to start falling from Sunday night. Well, excitingly, we woke up on Sunday morning and it had already started snowing! And we probably had about five or six centimeters already fallen. Really nice soft, fluffy snow. So exciting.

I'm heading out now. It's about midday now. So the time I'm recording this or putting this out it's like noon, and it actually has stopped snowing right now. So it is pretty bright, although completely overcast. And we are still expecting a lot more snow to fall throughout the rest of today and tonight, but the timing has changed a little bit from the original snow forecast.

And then, after tonight, we expect snow on and off throughout the rest of the week. So we're looking at pretty overcast skies. I expect you to want to wear low-light goggle lenses. I've opted for low lights today even though it has brightened up, but it was still the right choice.

So on the pistes, I've come down to Mont Albert because I wanted to head up to Roche de Mio and get some views. But if you check out the webcams, which you should always do, I checked the web plans before coming out today. And there's absolutely nothing to be seen up there. So nothing to gain. We know it's snowing up there. It's 3000 meters plus up there!

I want to head down into the lower area. Let's see how low the snow line has dropped. And let's see the conditions on the piste so far.

It was really glassy and icy in the last week or so. It's already softened up and is covered by, I would say, five, six, to 10 centimeters of fresh snow. It's pretty soft, and a lot of it's been sloughed to the sides of the pieces already.

My big word of warning this week would be to stay on piste. It will look amazing because you'll have this fluffy soft white snow covering everything, but you have to remember that 24 hours ago, 48 hours ago, it was green and grassy and very rocky.

The avalanche risk will go up as the pisteurs get out and secure the areas because all this falling snow needs to attach to the base, which is not in good condition, especially for this time of January.

Also, remember if a piste is closed, it's closed for a reason. And that is because either:

  • It still needs to be groomed. So the snow is just not stable.
  • There is no snow on the run
  • There is a risk of an avalanche.

So be safe.

Other than that, 100% Get out even if it's snowy and overcast. You're still going to have an awesome time. Sometimes it's better because the pieces are empty and you can have real great time. Just dress appropriately.

It might mean you need more layers if the temperatures go up and down. Also, you may need a couple of goggle lens changes in a bag.

If you've got kids with you, you need to remember that they are pretty stationary a lot of the time. And so they might need extra layers to keep warm.

And plan those hot chocolate trips. And those drink stops so that you can have a little breather. Because it's also hard to work when the snow is soft and fluffy, and you're cutting through it. It's more challenging work than if it's hard-pack groomed pistes.

So enjoy the Alpine lifestyle and some hot drinks, and I hope to see you on the mountain. I.m in my bright neon Rainbow OOSC Mambo Sunset snowsuit, so you can't miss me! So if you see me on the pistes, stop and stop me and say hi.

And if there are any areas of La Plagne you would like to know more about or see more on the snow reports or in any other posts I'm doing, then drop me a message. Have fun, and that's La Plagne!

Last Paradiski Week!

April 20th 2022 @la_plagne weekly snow report.

And now, the time is here… Yep, the @paradiski area closed at the end of this week. Win the Vanoise closing and the Mont Chavin, Les Coches and Month Albert areas all finishing up this weekend. So it will be just the altitude villages to enjoy next week!

❄️ So this is the longest season we’ve had since I’ve been in @La_plagne – and thats over 15 years! Usually the lifts are shut by now. So it is truly AWESOME to still be out skiing this week – and skiing some excellent spring ski conditions.

💙The snow is soft and slushy – it does have a sugary feel, so a bit of a bite as you head up higher. Some of the connector pistes are very patchy by the end of the day – but after being bashed at night, they are good to go again! Really, again a big well done to the SAP and pisteurs this winter for maintaining some great piste conditions.

The pistes are very quiet – technically still Easter holidays here, but there are no Brits really, now that most Chalet and Tour Ops have closed. So if you are looking for places to stay next week, it’s self catered apartments and VERY cheap rates!

👇 Bonne ski! Are you in the resort? How are you finding the snow this week? Let me know in the comments.

⛷ Ski companies, feel free to share this report with your clients and make the most out of this weeks conditions!

12th April 2022

Sublicimes Event La Plagne

April 13th 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report.

Another incredible week – it really has been the winter season we dreamed of!

❄️ With huge snowfalls over the first 2 weeks of April, the last month of the season is shaping up to be pretty special! La Plagne is open until April 30th – so the longest ski season in years.

The characteristic of the season seems to have been big drops in temp, snow ❄️ and then massive spikes in temperature. So although we had +50cm over a couple of falls this month, the powder was spectacular for a day, but was quite wet and heavy almost immediately afterwards.

⚠️ This weekend we also had an avalanche – very central, just in the Grande Rochette area above Plagne Centre. Fortunately no serious injuries, but remember, when ski pistes are closed, it’s for a reason!

💙Moving on, let's talk Easter and spring skiing. Whilst there are bottle-neck queues at ski school meeting points at 10am, once you are off the lift, the pistes are very quiet. The restaurants feel busy, so I think everyone is just in “beers-in-the-sun” mode. And who can blame them?!

😎 Sublicimes is happening from the 13 – 18th with free events happening all day each day. From beauty stations at style summit to a maze at Wonderland and a giant ball pool at Dive In. It’s going to be a lot of fun! Follow my stories for more info.

Top Tips for Skiing in a White-Out!

March 30th 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report.

❄️ What a change around from last week! I was fully committed to Spring and Easter skiing, but looks like winter has one more spin for us! ❄️

Temperatures have dropped below zero today – although it still feels warm. But from Friday, they are falling to -10 during the day and -18 at night!! 🥶

So the snow falling right now is landing on the warm ground, meaning it is turning sticky and mushy quite quickly. But if the temps drop, 🤞🤞🤞 the ground freezes and the snow will land in much better condition.

Pistes are very empty, queues are non-existent! The resort has that silent quality you only get with a lack of constant background noise from hundreds of voices and skis or boards. I 💙 it!

So whilst I LOVE spring slush and skiing, I’m stoked to see some snow falling as we still have 31 days until the lifts close! I don’t think it will be enough to re-awaken the off-piste, but let's hope we have a good covering for the pistes to end the season on a high! 🤩

Spring Skiing in La Plagne

March 23rd 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report.

😎 Can anyone say empty pistes with me?! It feels like it’s been a long and busy season already, and so these spring, empty pistes are very welcome!

☀ I said last week that spring skiing was really here. BUT this week we also have the sun to top it off! Don’t forget that sun cream, I definitely caught some redness at the start of this week! ☀ 😡

💙 The off-piste is really just green grass and rocks at this point. It’s hard to believe there is still 5+ weeks of the season left. It also feels too warm to believe it will snow again, BUT the temps are dropping again next week, and there is +10cm snow on the forecast over next Weds and Thurs. ❄ ❄ ❄

💙 The lower areas are all still accessible, and the pistes are in good condition – so Champagny, MontChavin and MontAlbert. They are chopped up by later in the day, but considering how long it’s been since it last snowed, they are great. Plus, these lower, quieter areas are often better than the busier ‘classic’ routes that are well-tracked out by 1-2 pm.

Sand from the Sahara in La Plagne

March 16th 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report.

😎 So this week, there is no doubt that we are officially into SPRING SKIING! So welcome back to:
💙Goggle tans
💙Long lunches on the terrace
💙Slushy snow – bye-bye ice!!
💙Quiet and relaxed pistes

As you can tell, I might be a bit biased towards spring skiing! 😎I’d like to see some blue skies to go with the warm temperatures, and the sun should be making an appearance from Monday.

🗻⬇️Heading down low in the resort today to Montalbert, I wanted to see how the lowest valley is doing in the warmer temps, and honestly, the piste snow is almost better than up high. Mainly because I think it is a lot quieter than the altitude villages and main lifts.

I didn’t make it to MontChavin Les Coches today, and their pistes do look patchier than MontAlbert, so will welcome any comments from those in the know on that.

Happy skiing!

First Tracks Event - La Plagne

March 9th 2022 @la_plagne weekly snow report.

😎 Mixing it up again this week with a quick First Tracks this Wednesday!

💙 So if you don’t know about the first tracks, then it is something La Plagne do every Wednesday, alternating between Plagne Centre and BelleCote. And every other week in Plagne MontAlbert. You meet at the bottom of the lift at 745am and head up early, enjoy the scenery, listen to a little bit of knowledge about the area from the guides and then ski down together. Then you jump o the lift again and get one more run down to the included breakfast stop, in the ChairLift restaurant in Plagne Soleil. 15€ per person

☀100% recommend! Will be writing more on this in the future.

👉 Onto the snow. It’s cold but sunny right now – very enjoyable conditions. Pistes are hard-packed but feel good for cruising on. Off-piste, just not appealing right now! I don’t think it’s been a great season for the off-piste, although I haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy it when it has snowed (thanks, kids!!).

❄There is no snow on the forecast – yet! It is clouding over later in the week, so you never know. It might bring some snow, but probably not much. Also, the temperatures are rising from the mid-next week, so it looks like spring skiing and a bit of slushy-love might be on the horizon.

Saying goodbye to Bertrand - La Plagne & Oxygene Legend

March 2nd 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report.

So I’m doing things a little differently today.

💔You might have heard that an absolute legend of La Plagne, Bertrand, Co-Founder of the Oxygene Ski school, passed away last week.

🌟 So I wanted to remember this incredible man whilst I was doing the snow report this week. So I took a ride down “Bertrand’s Secret Passage” with my boy to film the conditions this week. It’s somewhere he used to take my friends and I before it was an official run. ⛷

❄ Moving on to the snow report, we’ve had some regular snowfall over the last few weeks, which is most welcome! However, the pistes are starting for the first time this season to feel icy in more places, not just shady spots. So service those skis/boards and dig those edges in!

💙 Although the resort is still really busy with 1/2 term holidays, the skiing and pistes feel pretty chill. Not the huge lines we saw in early Feb, which is great!

❄ We are also looking at some more snow over the end of this week. Only about 2-4cms forecast so far, but it could increase. Especially as the temperature are set to plummet down to -8/10C from Friday. So wrap up warm!

🌟 That’s it from me for this week. Raise a glass of something to Bertrand this week, and when you are in La Plagne next, visit Bertrand’s secret passage!

Plus tips for top fun skiing!

Feb 23rd 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report.

❄ So we had a brilliant start to the week, with about 40cms snow falling across La Plagne on Monday. Pistes were pretty empty, which made for some fun, but high winds soon meant that a lot of lists were closed early.

💙 Tuesday saw the DREAM conditions! Bluebird skies after a huge snowfall. People rushed out, but the pisteurs were hard at work securing the area, and a lot of lifts didn’t open until after 10 am, making for some big bottleneck queues.

🌟But when they did open, the resort was a playground! A lot of the off-piste that hasn’t had a true freshen-up all season was super inviting, and there was fun to be had!

🌟 Look forward, it's warm/HOT in the resort right now, but temps are dropping again, down to -10 on Friday, with a little bit of snow in the air. But the temp dropped is needed. Otherwise, this snow will fast turn to slush.

🌟 Again, the resort is busy with 1/2 term folks, but the atmosphere is pretty great. It feels quite relaxed and calm and a lot of fun. There seem to be less of the “out of control” speed type skiing we were seeing a lot over the Christmas and New Year weeks.

Top Tips for Skiing When It's Snowing!

❄️ Feb 16th 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report.

💙The big news this week is just how much snow has fallen/is still falling! On and off this week, we’ve probably had +30cms, and it’s still going over the rest of the week.

😬 Slightly concerned that the temperature is rising up above zero on Thursday, and there is a small chance the snow might turn to rain…

😬It is already feeling a bit wet and heavy out there, but I think when the snow stops and the groomers have been out, the pistes are going to be awesome.

😂 I reserve judgement on the off-piste until I can see it!! But I had lots of friends who got out yesterday in the sun, and it looked AWESOME! Light and fluffy!

Peak Season Skiing Tips

Feb 9th 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report. Great to see beautiful blue skies and good snow under-ski.

💙But the big news this week is just how busy it is on the mountain again. Having not seen a full peak season week since February 2020 before the first lockdown hit, it’s been a bit of an eye-opener!

Skiing in Bad Weather is Still Fun!

Feb 2nd 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report, and it’s definitely the first time all season I’ve been out reporting in not blue skies.

❄ But awesome to see some fresh snow on the pistes! Off-piste looks like its getting good coverage, but honestly, there wasn’t great light to see.

🏂 But I did get some fresh tracks on the pistes and just to the sides. 100% head out early morning and enjoy the fresh snow and quiet pistes.

💙 I think off-piste is gonna be ok to good. Not enough snow fell to make the conditions amazing, but I think in places, it will be looking pretty nice – check with the local instructors and always check the avalanche risks.

👉 The pistes are feeling really nice. This is my opinion, but I found that the areas still in the cloud and overcast have better snow, softer and fluffier on and off-piste. The slopes in the sun / northern aspect seem to have a crunch to them like the snow was wetter and has frozen a bit on the top.

Like I said in the video, definitely check the webcams for the areas you are heading to because the conditions are going to be so varied day to day and area to area.

Empty Pistes in La Plagne

Jan 26th 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report – answering some questions from you all again. 🥰

I’m starting to sound repetitive because the pistes are just great.

Yes, some icy patches down the central lines of the busier connecting runs – I’m looking at you La Roche!!

Also, some orange banner signs saying thin levels or snow, but I saw very little ground or grass poking through.

On the whole, hard-packed but great, cruise-y runs.

Definitely more Brits 🇬🇧 on the slopes – but still very quiet, private lifts pretty much all day today.

🏂 Off-piste really worn thin and melting away
❄ Blue skies for days, no snow on the horizon
💙 Consistent cold temperatures, no peaks or drops forecast at the moment for the next week.

Title Here

Jan 19th 2022 @laplagne weekly snow report – answering some questions from you lovely people. 🥰

The pistes are still in pretty good condition. Very hard-packed but has good snow quality down to about 2000m, and then it turns a lot icier. The slopes with points that are never in the sun are getting pretty icy as well, so be careful when you hit those shady places.

It’s still pretty quiet, expecting the influx of British skiers back from this weekend – welcome back! 🇬🇧

🏂 Off-piste totally chopped up and melting away
❄ Blue skies for days – although 3cms forecast for tonight… not sure I believe that.
💙 Cold temps still keep the higher pistes in great condition. Lower areas suffering a bit now from the freeze-thaw and getting icy.

Waiting for the Brits to Come Back After Covid

⛷Jan 12 2022 @laplagne snow report. 🏂 Pistes are still pretty awesome.
❄️ Off piste still powdery but chopped up now.
💙 Blue skies for days.
🥶 Cold temps keep snow in top condition.

Still waiting for the 🇬🇧 to come back!
