La Plagne Soleil is an excellent destination for families. It offers a safe, tranquil environment with plenty of activities for children and adults alike. The village is small and pedestrian-friendly, making it easy to get around and explore. Numerous child-friendly facilities, including dedicated play areas and kid-friendly dining options, ensure that younger guests are well-catered for.

Dining in La Plagne Soleil is great. Considering it’s one of the quieter and smaller La Plagne towns, it has some of the best restaurants.

Bars and Après Ski in La Plagne Soleil
The après ski scene in La Plagne Soleil is relaxed and family-friendly, with some cosy bars and lounges to choose from. It’s not an area known for lively après ski, and late-night parties. Having said that, the best on-the-piste après ski, La Bergerie, is on the pistes just above Plagne Soleil and perfect to top into on the way home.

Non-Skiing Activities in Plagne Soleil
While La Plagne Soleil offers a limited range of non-skiing activities, the free shuttle service connects you to a variety of options in nearby villages, such as Plagne Centre.

Accommodation Recommendations in Plagne Soleil
La Plagne Soleil offers a wide range of accommodations. There are some big apartment residences with lots of great but reasonably priced apartments. Ideal for budget ski holidays. Additionally, there are some lovely classic alpine chalets dotted throughout the village. These tend to be run by tour operators offering package deals and catered ski holidays.
- Résidence Le Cervin: Provides self-catered apartments that are ideal for families, offering flexibility and home-like comfort. I’d recommend checking out WeSki to find the best apartments available at the lowest prices.
- SkiWorld: SkiWorld has a collection of chalets called the Flowers Chalets, because they’re called Iris, Hepatica etc after lots of mountain flowers! They are really well-positioned and perfect for large groups and families. More about SkiWorld La Plagne.
- Alpine Elements: Alpine Elements have a lot of chalets around both Plagne Villages and Plagne Soleil. Alpine Elements are great at combating catered, package ski holidays with budget ski trip prices!
This is also where you’ll find the main parking area in La Plagne for motor homes and caravans – called the ‘Cavanneige’. If you’re on the Bergerie chairlift, it passes directly over the cavanneige. Check out this page if you’re interested in parking your motorhome in La Plagne.
Ski Schools in La Plagne Soleil
La Plagne Soleil is well-served by several excellent ski schools, ensuring that skiers of all levels can improve their skills with professional instruction.
- Oxygene Ski School: Known for its friendly instructors and small group sizes, making it ideal for beginners and children. They don’t have a meeting point in Villages or SOleil, but they do have a free shuttle service and will come to collect you for your lessons. - ESF (French Ski School): Offers a wide range of lessons for all ages and skill levels, with multilingual instructors. More about ESF.
Skiing in Plagne Soleil
La Plagne Soleil offers excellent skiing conditions, with some great slopes for beginners and first-time skiers. You can also be up high, skiing at altitude within minutes, ideal for more advanced skiers and snowboarders.
- Beginner Friendliness: The village has several gentle slopes and dedicated beginner areas, making it ideal for those new to skiing. La Plagne Soleil has a large rope tow that kids can learn on easily and play around on. This space is also really close to some of the great restaurants, like Monicas, so they can play there and then stop for drinks or an ice cream break quite easily.
- Accessibility and Ski Lifts: La Plagne Soleil is well-connected by a network of ski lifts, providing easy access to the entire La Plagne area. If you want to head straight out of town, it’s a drag lift up towards the Dou du Praz and over to Bellecôte. But I would personally ski down to Plagne Centre and then take any one of the lifts over towards Bellecôte or any of the other La Plagne ski areas.
- Ski-in/Ski-out Accommodation: Many of the accommodations offer direct access to the slopes, allowing you to start your day of skiing right from your doorstep. If they aren’t ski in and out, then they are going to be less than 5 minutes away from the closest ski slope. So you really are close to the pistes, wherever you stay.
Shopping and Services in La Plagne Soleil
La Plagne Soleil does not have a large variety of shops or services. You do have a great Spar mini supermarket in the village. Plus, of course, some great ski rental and hire shops. But if you are looking for more clothes or ski gear shopping, you probably want to head to Plagne Centre or Bellecôte.
Essential Services: There isn’t a medical centre or pharmacy in Soleil, the closest ones are in either Bellecôte or Plagne Centre. Plagne Centre is the closest option to get to either on skis or via the free shuttle bus or pedestrian telebus lift.

I learned a lot reading this post. I had never heard of La Plagne or La Plagne Soleil before. While we don’t ski anymore, I do love a good apres ski environment. And have always wanted to try dog sledding. And who can pass on a resort with a great spa?
