Why La Plagne is Good for Easter Holidays

La Plagne shines as an Easter holiday destination for several reasons. Its high-altitude slopes and extensive snow-making capabilities promise good snow conditions well into spring. The longer daylight hours and milder temperatures make for pleasant skiing conditions, especially for families with young children. April skiing in La Plagne embodies the magic of spring skiing. With milder temperatures averaging around 6°C to 12°C (43°F to 54°F), the weather is more comfortable, yet it still offers decent snow cover, especially on higher-altitude slopes. 5 Non-Ski Family Fun Activities in La Plagne

Living in La Plagne with my young kids has given me the chance to explore all the angles of what makes an Easter in La Plagne so special for families. If you're looking to mix up your holiday with activities that don't involve ski boots and lift passes, you're in for a treat. Here's a roundup of the top five fun Easter family activities off the slopes in La Plagne this year.

1. Easter Egg Hunts in the Snow

Easter wouldn't be Easter without an egg hunt, but imagine searching for those colorful eggs against a backdrop of snow-covered mountains. La Plagne takes this tradition to the next level with its snowy Easter egg hunts. This exciting twist adds an element of alpine magic to the hunt, making it an unforgettable experience for the little ones.

For Easter 2024, the Easter Egg Hunt will start at Place Perrière in Plagne Centre. Head there between 4:30 and 5 p.m. to pick up your roadbook and Easter Egg Hunter Kit! You’ll need your thinking caps on to solve the Easter riddles to win the prizes!

2. Family-Friendly Shows and Parades

Every week, La Plagne hosts a variety of free family events across the different La Plagne villages. You can find a breakdown of them on my social media channels every weekend. Just have a look at the village you’re staying in to see what’s going on.

For Easter, there will be the classic activities, but there will also be more Easter-specific activities, perfect for families looking to soak in the festive atmosphere. From performances by local entertainers to themed parades on the snowfronts of the villages, there's a sense of community and joy that fills the air, providing entertainment for all ages.

3. Special Children’s Ski Lessons

Though these take place on the slopes, they're worth mentioning for their Easter twist. La Plagne ski schools sometimes incorporate fun Easter themes into their lessons around this time. This can include everything from treasure hunts on skis to themed races, making the learning process much more enjoyable for kids and adding a festive flair to their skiing experience.

And even if you're not in ski lessons, it's a great opportunity for a bit of fun fancy dress with  your ski crew.

4. Head to the Easter Sunday Mass

If you're looking for a religious celebration, then the church in Plagne Centre is where you need to be. Just round the corner from the lift pass office, you'll find the entrance to the church. The Easter Sunday Mass is at 6 pm on the 31st.

I'm afraid I don't know much more about it than that as I'm not religious and I've never visited the church! So if you go, let me know how the service is.

5. Easter-Themed Family Dinners

Easter is also a time for indulgence, and many restaurants in La Plagne embrace this by offering special Easter menus. These family-friendly eateries create a warm, inviting atmosphere where you can enjoy traditional Easter dishes or opt for something a bit more adventurous. It's a wonderful way to round off the day, gathering with loved ones over a delicious meal.
