La Plagne winter events 2023/24

If you're heading to the mountains for your first ski holiday and looking for some thrilling events to spice up your time in La Plagne, you're in for a treat. I'm your friendly neighbourhood La Plagne (and ski!) expert, and I'm here to spill the beans about one of the most exhilarating winter happenings on our mountain: the La Plagne “Born To Be” show.

You see, I'm not just any travel writer; I live here in La Plagne with my family. I've seen this place transform into a winter wonderland year after year, and one thing I can guarantee is that you don't want to miss the La Plagne Born To Be show, especially if you're visiting this February. So, let's dive into what makes this event so special and why it's an absolute must on your ski holiday itinerary.

Join behind the scenes today and get the insider scoop

What is the La Plagne Born To Be show?

Picture this: a dazzling display of skiing prowess, spectacular tricks, and a gathering of legendary skiers in the heart of the French Alps. That's the La Plagne Born To Be show for you! This thrilling event is a showcase of everything we love about winter sports and the unique charm of La Plagne.

But the key thing is that all the shows, the acrobatics, the synchro skiing, our local La Plagne skiers perform everything. From kids aged 8 years old from the local ski club to ski instructors and then our famous La Plagne Olympiads, World Cup winners and X-Games medalists.

This year, the Born To Be Show is being held on the 29th February, 2024.

Where is the Born To Be show held?

The Born To Be show takes place in Plagne Centre on the Stade du Slalom, right by the Hotel Araucaria. The viewing area is on the Place Centre snowfront, offering breathtaking views of the action. And here's a little insider tip – they serve free hot chocolates and Vin Chaud for adults. So, make sure to bundle up because it's an outdoor event, and it can get pretty chilly. I wouldn’t recommend wearing ski boots, but if you’re a snowboarder, wear those snowboard boots! And then all your ski layers to keep warm and toasty.

How to get to the Born To Be show?

Now, if you're not staying in Plagne Centre, fret not! La Plagne offers free shuttle buses that will take you to the show. However, be prepared for the crowds; everyone wants a piece of the Born To Be action. If you plan to have dinner in Plagne Centre afterwards, I'd highly recommend making a reservation. The restaurants tend to get packed on the evening of the show.

What does the event include?

The Born To Be show kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m., ensuring you have plenty of time to enjoy the festivities. Here's a glimpse of what you can expect:

  • Time to get signatures from the La Plagne legends: You heard it right. You can rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in skiing right here in La Plagne. Get your autograph book ready! This is usually the first thing that happens in the evening.
  • Skiing displays from the local Club de Sport children: These are the local La Plagne kids who might just become “future Olympians.” It's incredible to witness their talent and dedication to the sport.
  • Amazing skiing and funny ski tricks from all the La Plagne ski schools: La Plagne boasts some of the best ski schools in the world, and they're here to impress you with their skills and humour.
  • La Plagne Olympians and famous faces from all ski disciplines: You might even spot your ski heroes from freestyle, slalom, downhill, and more. One year, they even arrived in style, flying in on parachutes!
  • Dancing Piste Bashers: Yep, you read that correctly. And, of course, even with the hundreds of talented skiers in the show, my kids love the piste bashers the most!
  • Fireworks at the end: To top it all off, a breathtaking fireworks display that lights up the night sky, leaving you with unforgettable memories.
