Taking place on 4th – 6th April 2026, this unique ski race offers two different formats, S and XL, challenging skiers of all levels. When & Where Does the Mega Bell Take Place?
Location: La Plagne – of course! But the race route covers different peaks and fun slopes around the whole La Plagne ski resort, including the Riders Nation boarder cross, the Fun Slope, and the Yuge Slalom course.
Date: 4th – 6th April 2025
This event takes full advantage of spring skiing conditions – softer snow, longer days, and fewer crowds make it the perfect end-of-season challenge.
What is the Mega Bell Course in La Plagne?
FOR 2026, WE ARE YET UNSURE OF THE FORMAT THE EVENT WILL TAKE. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS BASED ON THE 2025 EVENT. I WILL UPDATE ASAP WHEN WE GET THE INFORMATION.
The Mega Bell Course is a timed ski race featuring multiple challenges across the La Plagne ski area. There are two race formats depending on your age and skill level:
How Does It Work?
- Skiers race on either 3 (S format) or 5 (XL format) different courses.
- Times from each course are added together to determine the final ranking.
- Bonuses and penalties apply, so strategy and skill both count!
- No mass start: You can start when and where you want from 9am.
Start locations: Plagne Centre, Aime 2000, Plagne Villages, Plagne Soleil, Belle Plagne, Plagne 1800, Plagne Bellecôte, Montchavin – Les Coches, Montalbert, or Champagny-en-Vanoise.
Tip: To ensure you finish before the 3pm time limit, it’s best to start by 9.30am.

S Format – Fun & Family-Friendly
3 race courses
Min. age: 8
Skill level: Red run
Best for: Families, mixed-ability groups, those who want to ski more in the afternoon
Start time: Anytime from 9 am (but 9.30 am latest recommended)

Course 1: Mega Warrior – The Ultimate Ski Obstacle Course
What is it?
Think you’ve got what it takes to tackle an obstacle course on skis? The Mega Warrior course is all about testing your agility, strength, and precision. You’ll have to hit a bullseye, use your upper body strength, and take a leap of faith. Not feeling brave? There’s a crawl-under-the-net option instead—after all, if an 8-year-old can do it, so can you!
How to nail it?
A bit of luck and some quick thinking might just shave off those extra seconds (especially when it counts!).
Where?
Le Fornelet, at the top of the Montalbert gondola (Montalbert sector).
Course 2: Tout là-haut – Europe’s Longest Funslope Challenge
What is it?
Race down Europe’s longest Funslope, packed with whoops, banked turns, and small jumps. Sounds easy? The challenge isn’t the difficulty—it’s the sheer length of the run. Expect your legs to be burning by the finish!
How to nail it?
Your starting point is random, so you might get lucky and start from ‘way up there’… or you might have to work a little harder from further down.
Where?
Take the Arpette chairlift from Plagne Bellecôte.
Course 3: Le Grand Bain – Giant Slalom & Waterslide Finale
What is it?
A giant slalom race… with a twist! Expect a few surprises along the way, plus a waterslide finish. Will you go for the full send and make a splash, or play it safe and stay dry?
How to nail it?
A good mix of ski racing skills and balance is key—though having an Olympic swimmer as a friend might help with the waterslide part!
Where?
Jean-Luc Crétier slalom field (Plagne Centre).
Good to know:
Le Grand Bain is the final course for all S-format racers, with the finish line at the bottom of the slopes in Plagne Centre. Cross the line, claim your glory, and celebrate with a well-earned après-ski treat!
XL Format – High-Level Competition
5 race courses (including harder versions of the S format races)
Min. age: 12
Skill level: Black run
Best for: Competitive skiers, inter-generational challenges, those looking for a serious race
Start time: Anytime from 9 am (but 9.30 am latest recommended)
⏳ Challenge: This format pushes your limits with demanding terrain and high-speed sections!
XL Format Race Courses – Mega Bell La Plagne
Course 1: Tout là-haut – Europe’s Longest Funslope
This race takes place on the longest Funslope in Europe, packed with whoops, banked turns, and small jumps. The difficulty doesn’t come from the obstacles but from the sheer length of the run, making it a real test of endurance.
Success depends on luck as well as skill, as your starting position is assigned at random. A higher start means a longer and more demanding descent.
Location: Plagne Bellecôte, accessible via the Arpette chairlift
Course 2: Le Grand Bain – Giant Slalom with a Waterslide Finish
A giant slalom with a few unexpected obstacles, ending with a waterslide where competitors must decide whether to go full speed and risk a splash or play it safe to stay dry.
Location: Jean-Luc Crétier slalom field in Plagne Centre
Good to know: This is the final course of the event, with the finish line in Plagne Centre
This is the only surprise course in the Mega Bell, with no chance to practise in advance. If you want a sneak peek, you can get a view of the course from the Bécoin chairlift.
Course 3: C’est d’la balle – Boarder Cross Meets Ball Pool
A mix of a classic boarder cross with its banked turns and whoops, combined with an unexpected challenge inspired by a ball pool. Skiers will need to stay focused and look ahead rather than down to avoid losing time.
Location: Riders Nation Freestyle Park, Montchavin – Les Coches sector
Course 4: Here We Go – Giant Slalom with a Twist
A giant slalom with an unpredictable element—one roll of the dice could make the course even longer than planned. Quick reactions and adaptability are key, as is the ability to handle the unexpected.
Location: YUGE slalom at the top of Le Golf chairlift, Plagne Aime 2000
Course 5: C’est boarder… – A Boarder Cross with a Challenging Start
A technical boarder cross featuring steep banked turns and high-speed sections, but the real challenge comes right at the start. Getting into your skis may take longer than expected, and once you're moving, controlling your speed is essential to avoid overshooting the course.
Location: La Rossa boarder cross, Champagny-en-Vanoise sector

How to Register for the Mega Bell La Plagne
Registration for the Mega Bell La Plagne opens in mid-February 2025, and with only 400 spots available per race, signing up early is essential to secure your place. Visit the official La Plagne website for full entry details, fees, and the latest updates.
Things to Know Before You Register
- Limited spots: With just 400 entries per format, places are expected to fill up fast.
- Choose your format: Make sure you’re registering for the right level – S (red run level, age 8+) or XL (black run level, age 12+).
- Special event transport: A dedicated Mega Bell shuttle will run between Montalbert, Montchavin, and Les Coches for just €2, making it easier to get to the post-race activities without worrying about logistics.
