As a ski mum, my bargain-hunting instincts are always in high gear! While I'm a fervent supporter of secondhand shopping for my kids' ski gear on platforms like WhoSki.com, Vinted, or Facebook Marketplace, the allure of substantial discounts during the latest Amazon Black Friday week is hard to resist.
But what's pretty good about Amazon is all the subscriptions for digital and tech and the physical stuff. So, I've also included some of these that we use as a family both on the ski slopes, but also travelling and in our daily lives.

As I said above, I'm a huge fan of Sorel snow boots for kids and for me – and my husband has some as well!
I have had the more fashion-designed Sorels in the past, but I actually prefer this simpler design as you can slip them on and off without undoing the laces. This is perfect when you are in and out of your ski chalet and don't want to track snow into your cosy Alpine home.

I know that a ski holiday might not be the most relaxing, with no sunlounger and reading time! However, I can't travel without a couple of books lined up to read. And on a family ski holiday, I just don't have space for several books for my husband and I – and the kids. So, a Kindle is a perfect compromise. Personally, I prefer reading real, paper books, but I cannot argue with the practicality of a Kindle when travelling. Plus, with nearly 20% off in the Prime week, it's hard to argue.

If you're looking for an alternative to YouTube Kids, then this might be your answer. We found Amazon Kids+ because we were sick of the mindless swiping from out kids on YouTube. It's great for finding age-appropriate content, including videos and reading material. You can also set parental guidelines, which sets our minds at ease.

8 - Amazon Prime Subscription

If you're doing a ski season, this one is for you (scroll on by if you're heading on a ski holiday!). If you are spending the winter in the mountains, then one of the biggest favors you can do yourself is to get an Amazon Prime subscription for the Amazon in the country you're heading to, e.g., Amazon.fr /Amazon.de, etc. Then, when you're running low on snacks or hair products or need a last-minute fancy dress costume or ski onesie, you've got Amazon Prime set up for free delivery. Trust me, you will use it all winter but don't forget, this link gives you a free trial to cover Christmas and New Year!

Top tip! If your family wants to send you things for Christmas, the postage from the UK or elsewhere will often cost a fortune – thanks to Brexit! So let them use your Prime account to order items for you and post directly to you – do postage costs! My family does this when buying birthday gifts for me and my kids, and it works like a dream.

You can choose and download a selection of audiobooks for yourself and your kids at age-appropriate levels. So, if you have a long car journey, flight, or ski transfer, you have a form of entertainment that isn't screen-dependent.
Amazon Black Friday has a deal to get your first month for free! So if you time it right, you can sign up and try it out for your ski trip. And then cancel it if you don't find it useful.
