If you’ve ever planned a ski trip with a mixed group of skiers and non-skiers, you’ll know how tricky it can be to find a spot where everyone can meet up without hassle. Living full-time in La Plagne with my family, I've come to know the area inside out, including the best places to grab a bite on the mountain that caters to both skiers and non-skiers. When my family comes to visit, my mum and grandma don't ski. So we are always hunting for restaurants where we can meet up for lunch on the slopes so they can watch the kids' ski past.
Fortunately, La Plagne is mostly a “ski-in, ski-out” destination, meaning many of its restaurants are right on the snow. So you don't need to worry. There are plenty of options that are easily accessible to pedestrians and skiers. Whether you’re looking for a casual lunch spot, a hearty mountain meal, or just somewhere to relax and enjoy the views, here’s my list of top restaurants that you can reach without skis.

1. Monicas, Plagne Soleil
Monicas in Plagne Soleil is a fantastic choice if you’re looking for a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere with easy pedestrian access. Plagne Soleil is known for its sunny location and central convenience, making it a perfect spot for both skiers and non-skiers to meet up. You can walk right up to the restaurant without needing to navigate tricky paths or steep slopes, which is a major plus if you’ve got little ones or older family members in tow. The large outdoor terrace at Monica's is ideal for soaking up the winter sun while enjoying the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
The menu at Monica's is varied, catering to all tastes, from traditional Savoyard dishes like fondue and raclette to pizzas, burgers, and lighter options like salads. The kids’ menu is also a winner, offering familiar favourites that keep the little ones happy. The relaxed vibe here makes it easy to linger over a leisurely lunch or return for dinner after a day on the slopes. For non-skiers, it’s a great spot to relax, people-watch, and enjoy the lively mountain atmosphere.
2. Grande Rochette, Plagne Centre
Grande Rochette is up above Plagne Centre and is a must-visit if you’re after stunning views combined with a superb dining experience. This restaurant is perched at a high altitude and offers one of the most breathtaking panoramas in the entire La Plagne area. Accessing Grande Rochette is easy for non-skiers, thanks to the Funiplagne gondola that whisks you up the mountain. This gondola is open to pedestrians, making it straightforward to reach even if you’re not skiing. Just remember, you need a lift pass for this as a pedestrian.
Once you arrive, you’re treated to a 360-degree view that stretches across the Alps—a perfect backdrop for a memorable meal. The restaurant itself is cosy yet spacious, with a large terrace that’s ideal for sunny days. The menu offers a mix of French classics and local Savoyard specialties, including their famous fondue and hearty mountain dishes. Whether you’re here for a long, lazy lunch or just a quick coffee break, Grande Rochette provides an exceptional experience.
Non-skiers will particularly enjoy the ease of access and the opportunity to take in the incredible views without having to navigate the slopes. It’s a perfect spot for family gatherings, with plenty of space and a welcoming atmosphere. Make sure to reserve a table, especially if you’re visiting during peak season, as this place is a favourite among both locals and tourists alike.
3. Le 360
Le 360 is a standout mountain restaurant in La Plagne, offering some of the best panoramic views and an unbeatable dining experience for both skiers and non-skiers. Located at the top of the Montalbert bubble lift, it’s easily accessible for pedestrians, making it an ideal spot for mixed groups looking to meet up on the mountain.
Le 360 is known for its modern, glass-fronted dining space, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks. Whether you sit indoors or on the large, sun-drenched terrace, you’ll get an unforgettable mountain dining experience.
Le 360 is one of the few truly pedestrian-friendly mountain restaurants. If you’re staying in Montalbert, simply take the Montalbert gondola straight to the top, step off, and walk a few meters to the restaurant – no hiking, no stress.
One important thing to note is that Le 360 is only accessible from Montalbert. If you’re staying in another La Plagne village, you won’t be able to reach it without skiing over. This makes it a hidden gem for those based in Montalbert, as it never feels overly crowded compared to some of the more central mountain restaurants.
4. Expedition, Aimé 2000
Expedition in Aimé 2000 is a go-to spot for those looking for a casual dining experience with easy access for non-skiers. Located right on the Aime 2000 slopes, accessible from the shopping centre on one sister and the slopes on the terrace, it’s incredibly convenient for those who aren’t hitting the slopes but still want to enjoy the mountain ambience. It's also opposite the beginner drag lift in Aime 2000, so it's a good place to park yourself for an afternoon to watch the kids practice after their ski lessons.
Aimé 2000 is slightly lower in altitude compared to some other areas, which makes it a bit easier to reach and ideal for families with young children or older relatives.
The restaurant itself has a modern, casual vibe with a small, in-demand interior and a good-sized terrace that’s perfect for dining outdoors when the weather permits. The menu at Expedition changes weekly and shows off the best of the local Savoyard ingredients. It’s better suited for adult tastes, though, so I often take the kids here to enjoy an ice cream dessert while I have brunch or a longer lunch!
One of the standout features of Expedition is its flexibility. It’s equally suited for a quick coffee break as it is for a long, leisurely lunch. The location right by the slopes means that even if you have members of your group who prefer not to ski, they can still easily join you for a meal. It’s also a great spot to meet up after a morning of skiing, allowing everyone to refuel and relax before heading out for more adventures.

5. 6eme Ciel – La Plagne Glacier
At 3,000m at the very top of the La Plagne Glacier, 6ème Ciel is the highest snack restaurant in the resort, making it an unforgettable meeting point for both skiers and non-skiers. Whether you want a quick refuel before tackling the glacier runs or just want to take in the breathtaking alpine views, this spot is a must-visit.
Non-skiers can reach 6ème Ciel via the Glacier gondola, which takes you all the way up with zero effort required. Step out and enjoy stunning 360° views of the surrounding peaks – on a clear day, you can even spot Mont Blanc! Pedestrians do need a pedestrian lift pass to get to this peak.

6. Le Dou du Praz, Dou du Praz Plateau
Sitting at 2,100m with some of the best panoramic views in La Plagne, Dou du Praz is a fantastic spot for both skiers and non-skiers to meet for a long, leisurely meal in the mountains. Known for its authentic Savoyard cuisine and breathtaking setting, this hidden gem is perfect for those looking for a truly memorable dining experience.
Unlike many high-altitude restaurants, Dou du Praz is accessible on foot from Plagne Centre. A scenic walking trail leads to the restaurant, taking around 30 minutes (or less with snowshoes). For those who prefer a lift, take the Bergerie chairlift and ski down the Ecartee piste to the Dou du Praz drag lift. Then you can ski straight to the front door.
The huge south-facing terrace offers unbeatable views of Mont Blanc, making it the perfect spot for a long, relaxing meal. Plus, it's where the husky dogs set off from, making it very atmospheric!
For a stunning setting, great food, and easy access for all, Dou du Praz is a top choice for lunch on the mountain!
7. La Face Nord, Belle Plagne
La Face Nord in Belle Plagne is a top choice for anyone looking for a lively, welcoming restaurant with easy access for non-skiers. Belle Plagne is known for its charming village feel, and La Face Nord fits right in with its colourful, inviting atmosphere. The restaurant is located in the heart of the village, making it an easy walk for pedestrians and a great spot to meet up with friends or family.
Inside, La Face Nord has a riot of colourful decor that makes for Instagrammable photos in every corner. The menu is a delightful mix of traditional Savoyard dishes and modern French cuisine, offering something to please every palate. From rich, cheesy fondues to tender steaks and fresh salads, the food here is top-notch. My favourite is the tuna steak, which was cooked to perfection. The wine list is also impressive, featuring a range of local and French wines that perfectly complement the menu.
Non-skiers will love the convenience of La Face Nord’s location, as well as the warm, friendly service that makes you feel right at home. The restaurant also has a lovely terrace that’s perfect for sunny days, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick lunch or settling in for a long, leisurely dinner, La Face Nord offers a dining experience that’s both relaxed and refined.
8. Chalet Roche de Mio, Roche de Mio
Chalet Roche de Mio is one of the best mid-mountain restaurants in La Plagne for groups with both skiers and non-skiers. Located at 2,700m on the Roche de Mio plateau, this spot is easily accessible for everyone, making it the ideal place to meet up for a long lunch or a quick refuel.
Chalet Roche de Mio is also under new management for winter 24/25, and let me tell you – it is so much better than in previous years!
Non-skiers can reach Chalet Roche de Mio using the Roche de Mio gondola, which departs from Belle Plagne and Plagne Bellecôte. No skiing required – just step off the lift and walk a short distance to the restaurant! Pedestrians do need a pedestrian list pass to ride the gondola up from Belle Plagne.
The large terrace offers stunning panoramic views, perfect for relaxing while watching skiers pass by. The menu features Savoyard classics like tartiflette, fondue, and hearty mountain dishes. It's self-service, so it can also be a quick lunch stop if you're wanting to get back on the mountain.
9. Le Bonnet, Bellecote
Le Bonnet in Bellecote is a family-friendly restaurant that’s perfect for meeting up with non-skiers. Located just above the Arpette chairlift, you do need to walk up to the restaurant over the snow.
The restaurant has a modern, welcoming atmosphere that’s ideal for families, with a menu that's ‘gourmet fast food' – burgers, hotdogs and pasta boxes.
The interior of Le Bonnet is funky and inviting. The portions are generous, and the quality of the food is consistently high, making it a great choice for a satisfying meal. My kids love it here, and it's our regular stop for quick chips and chicken tenders, which they can share between 2.
One of the standout features of Le Bonnet is that it turns into an après ski party in the late afternoons. So if you fancy a long lunch followed by some music and drinks, it's a good option. The location right by the lifts makes it easy for non-skiers to join in the fun, whether you’re stopping in for lunch or dinner. Le Bonnet offers a great combination of convenience, quality, and friendly service, making it a top pick for families and groups.
10. Loup Blanc, Plagne 1800
Loup Blanc in Plagne 1800 is another fantastic option for meeting up with non-skiers. Located at the bottom of the village, it’s easily accessible on foot, making it a convenient spot for a casual meal. The restaurant has a cosy, chalet-style interior that’s perfect for relaxing after a day in the mountains, with a menu that features a mix of Savoyard specialities and international favourites.
The atmosphere at Loup Blanc is warm and welcoming, with a friendly vibe that makes it a great place to meet up with friends or family. The menu offers something for everyone, from cheesy fondues and raclette to burgers and pizzas. There’s also a good selection of vegetarian options, ensuring that everyone in your group will find something they love. The portions are generous, and the quality of the food is consistently high, making it a great choice for a satisfying meal.
One of the highlights of Loup Blanc is its large terrace, which is perfect for sunny days. It offers beautiful views of the surrounding area, making it a great spot to sit back and relax with a drink.
