Is Plagne 1800 Family-Friendly?
Plagne 1800 is an excellent destination for families, providing a serene and safe environment with plenty of activities for children and adults alike. The village feels small and tranquil, making it an ideal location for families who prefer a quieter setting. This peaceful atmosphere allows families to relax and enjoy their vacation without the hustle and bustle that can often accompany larger resorts.
The village also has dedicated play areas on the snow to provide safe spaces for kids to have fun, while kid-friendly dining options make mealtimes enjoyable and stress-free for parents.

Restaurant Recommendations in Plagne 1800
Whilst Plagne 1800 has lots of accommodation, there are actually very few bars and restaurants here. But having said that, they are some of the best ones in La Plagne! Places that I recommend to those staying all over La Plagne, not just Plagne 1800.
Le Loup Blanc: A cosy restaurant offering traditional Savoyard dishes, perfect for enjoying hearty Alpine cuisine.
La Cantine: Known for its relaxed atmosphere and delicious pizzas, making it a great spot for a casual family meal or takeaway. They are open in summer and winter and often have DJs in the evenings for a livelier atmosphere. More about La Cantine.
Le Petit Chaperon Rouge: Offers a menu with a mix of French and international dishes, but their specialities are meats and steak, grilled over the open fire. This place does one of the best Côté du Bœuf we’ve had in La Plagne. More about Le Petit Chaperon Rouge.

Bars and Après Ski in Plagne 1800
Again, there aren’t many bars in 1800 but it’s quality not quantity, right? And if you’re looking for live music for après ski or a late-night party, then odds are you’ll find yourself in Plagne 1800.
Bar La Mine: A rustic bar offering a selection of beers, wines, and spirits, they have après every day in winter and then late-night bands or DJs most nights. More about Bar La Mine.
Bobsleigh Bar: Is on the bottom level of the Hotel Rhododendrons and is very popular with the seasonal workers around La Plagne. With a welcoming atmosphere and regular DJ sets on the sunny terrace in spring it’s well worth a visit.
Non-Skiing Activities in Plagne 1800
If you’re not skiing when you head to La Plagne, then it’s worth knowing that most of the non-ski activities that you might see recommended – like ski doing, parapenting, nighttime sledging and spas – are all based in other La Plagne villages.
Having said that, Plagne 1800 is well connected to all the other altitude villages with the free shuttle bus that runs through 1800 every 25 minutes in winter and every 30 minutes in summer. So it is actually very easy to get to the other villages and activities. For example, BelleCôte is 5-10 minutes on the bus or Plagne Centre is 10-15 minutes.

Ski Famille: One of the only chalet companies dedicated to families. Ski Famille have 2 catered chalets in La Plagne and both are in 1800. Both these chalets have nannies onsite and childcare available from the age of 4 months and upwards.
Ski Schools in Plagne 1800
Oxygene Ski School: Not based in 1800 but in Plagne Centre. However, they will come to pick you up with their free minibus shuttle to get you to and from your lessons. So this might actually be a great option for you. More about Oxygene Ski School here.
The only ski school operating out of Plagne 1800 is ESF. They have a dedicated beginner area in the snow front here with a snow garden for the smallest of skiers and a drag lift for the older first-time skiers. More about ESF here.

Skiing in Plagne 1800
Plagne 1800 is well connected to most of the La Plagne ski area and you can be skiing at quite a high altitude pretty quickly after you leave your ski chalet. The main ski lifts out of Plagne 1800 are the Meleze to head towards Bellecôte, Montchavin, Les Arcs etc; and the Plagne 1800 lift to head to Aime 2000, Plagne Centre and Montalbert.
One thing we must discuss is the beginner-friendliness of skiing in 1800. As I mentioned above, there are dedicated beginner ski areas in 1800 that are perfect for first-time kids and skiers. However, once you progress from these beginner areas, and want to explore a green slope or blue slope, you will be heading to one of the other villages. Which is simple from one of the lifts mentioned above. The issue is on returning to Plagne 1800, the ski slopes back in 1800 are very steep (although listed as blue pistes). If you are a nervous, beginner or first-time skier, you will likely find these slopes too steep. So to head home, you can hop on the shuttle bus – mentioned above to get home comfortably. This is actually quite simple but is something to consider if you are looking at 1800 for your trip.
Shopping and Services in Plagne 1800
Plagne 1800 is well-equipped with essential services and shopping options, ensuring that all your needs are met during your stay. You’ve got a great Spar mini-supermarket and a Tabac which also has fresh baguettes and pastries from the bakery each day. For emergency services, the medical centres are in Bellecôte and Plagne Centre, again only 10 minutes from 1800 on the free buses.
