The 5 Best Hot Chocolate Stops in La Plagne

Best hot chocolate La Plagne

Welcome to the frosty wonderland of La Plagne, where the mountains stand tall and the slopes are calling your name. I came to La Plagne to work ‘just one ski season’ nearly 20 years ago… but I’ve never left! Now, married and living here with our 2 kids, I’ve drunk a lot of hot chocolates across La Plagne! And I've got the inside track on the best hot chocolate spots to keep you warm and toasty this winter.

Join the inside track to get the story first from La Plagne.

1. Croq’Neige

Best hot chocolate La Plagne

Location: Plagne Centre

Access: Skiers and non-skiers welcome. You can ski in or walk in from the snow front in La Plagne Centre, or pedestrians can also enter from the internal shopping tunnels to stay out of the snow.

Why I recommend Croq’Neige:

  • The hot chocolate is delicious. It’s Milka and delicious.
  • Conveniently located next to the Oxygene ski school drop-off. So I always relax and grab a hot drink after the drop-off with the other parents.
  • Croq’Neige have a gourmet with option, ‘Chocolate Viennoise’ with whipped cream and marshmallows. And yes, this is always the one I opt for.
  • Family-friendly vibes with just-right portions for the little ones.

2. Chalet L’Arpette

best hot chocolate La Plagne

Location: Belle Plagne

Access: Ski-in access only from the blue Arpette piste

Why it's worth it:

  • The view is stunning and they have a large sunny terrace to enjoy. There are some old ski chairs and bubbles that the kids love to sit in – and make for great Instagram shots.
  • Hot chocolate comes as is, or with a dollop of whipped cream. They also have a counter with macarons which I always order a few of to enjoy with our hot chocolate.
  • Adults can add a dash of liqueur for that extra après ski kick.
  • Ideal location for a midday pick-me-up or an early evening treat. And if you’re staying in Belle Plagne or Bellecôte, it’s the perfect spot to start off your après ski.

3. Les Pierres Blanches

Location: Montchavin

Access: Ski-in only at the bottom of the Riders Nation snow park

What makes it special:

  • A lively, family-friendly atmosphere.
  • Enjoy the large, sunny terrace with gondolas and ski lift chairs – perfect for the kids.
  • Great spot for parents to relax while older teens shred the snow park. I will often stop here with my youngest, whilst the oldest hits the park with dad.

4. Les Inversens

best hot chocolate La Plagne

Location: Roche de Mio

Access: Accessible for skiers only, just below the top of the Roche de Mio bubble

Why it's a must-visit:

  • Set against the stunning backdrop of the mountain's peak. Honestly, some of the best views across the pistes and over to Mont Blanc.
  • The hot chocolate is delicious, of course served with whipped cream.
  • Well-stocked bar for those in your party not on the hot chocolate train. Including a fabulous Champagne bar – of course!

5. Verdons Sud

best hot chocolate La Plagne

Location: Champagny

Access: Skiers, at the meeting point of blue Bozelet and red Hari-Kiri pistes

Why you shouldn’t miss it:

  • Beautiful views down towards Champagny and across to Courchevel. Plus, there are lots of views of the pistes to watch the skiers zip past.
  • Great hot chocolate that hits the spot, for adults and kids.
  • Comfy seating for a leisurely, indulgent experience, both outdoors on the terrace and in an actual sun trap! It’s so sunny, they have large sun hats for you to borrow whilst you sit! Plus a lovely interior, with roaring log fire. I’ve spent many an overcast, snowy afternoon relaxing by this fire!
  • A unique hot chocolate adventure for families.
