The full insider guide to Chalet de L’Arpette La Plagne

Chalet L’Arpette Restaurant is a mountain restaurant. But you might be asking: “what is a mountain restaurant?” Basically, in a ski resort a mountain restaurant is a culinary oasis nestled amidst the picturesque slopes of a winter wonderland. Serving as a haven for skiers and snow enthusiasts, these unique dining establishments offer a perfect blend of gastronomy, relaxation, and breathtaking natural surroundings.

Located at high altitudes, La Plagne's mountain restaurants provide a welcome respite from the exhilarating outdoor activities. Skiers can conveniently ski or snowboard directly to these restaurants, making them a popular choice for refuelling and recharging during a day on the slopes.

A Gastronomic Adventure: Food Menu and Drinks

L'Arpette Restaurant is renowned for its menu and cuisine, which take your taste buds on a memorable journey. The menu boasts a diverse range of dishes, catering to various palates and preferences. One cannot visit without trying the traditional Savoyard delights like fondue and raclette, which are crafted with a perfect balance of flavours and a touch of Alpine authenticity.

For those seeking a heartier option, the restaurant offers mouthwatering steaks cooked to perfection and some seafood dishes as well, which can be hard to find in the mountains! While it's true that L'Arpette can be considered on the pricier side, the quality of each dish *pretty much* justifies the expense. This is a place where gastronomy meets the alpine atmosphere, creating an unforgettable dining experience.

To cater to different needs and budgets, L'Arpette provides a self-service option that offers slightly quicker service and slightly more affordable prices. Prices range from 7€ for a green salad to 20€ and more for poke bowls, lasagne, Thai salads, and Savoyard specialities. So it still isn’t cheap, but you have to balance the price with the views and the ambience.

The self-service is a fantastic choice for skiers who wish to grab a quick bite before heading back to the slopes. Families can also rejoice in the fact that L'Arpette offers a kids' menu with delightful options that are sure to please even the pickiest eaters.

From capturing the rustic fireplace to posing amidst the vintage ski memorabilia, every shot is a piece of visual delight. You can get great family photos here.

Moreover, the restaurant features a terrace with breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-covered slopes. I think it's one of the best terraces to visit in La Plagne. It's a mesmerizing spot to soak in the beauty of La Plagne while enjoying your meal or simply sipping on a drink. There are also some old ski lift gondolas and ski lifts on the terrace, which my kids love sitting in. Great for photos but also ideal for some peace and quiet for the parents! The combination of stunning views and charming aesthetics creates an ambience that is both cosy and visually appealing.

Stellar Staff and Impeccable Service

At L'Arpette, the staff are efficient and family-friendly. It feels like the team goes above and beyond to ensure a memorable dining experience, and they always make a fuss of my kids – which, if you’re a parent, you know, makes all the difference to your family lunch!

The team is warm, friendly, and always ready to cater to your needs. They possess an in-depth knowledge of the menu and are more than willing to provide recommendations based on your preferences. Despite the restaurant's popularity, the service remains efficient and professional, leaving you with a feeling of being well taken care of.

Whether you opt for the seated service or the self-service counter, you can expect a high level of hospitality. The staff's attentiveness and willingness to accommodate special requests contribute to an overall dining experience that is marked by genuine care and exceptional service.

A Toast to Unforgettable Moments: Chalet Arpette Drinks and Après-Ski

L'Arpette Restaurant not only satisfies your hunger but also serves as a haven for some après-ski relaxation or quality time with loved ones. The bar offers an extensive selection of beverages to complement your meal. From classic wines and spirits to locally crafted beers and refreshing cocktails, there's something to suit every taste.

For families and those seeking a cosy treat, the hot chocolates served at L'Arpette are simply divine. Warm, velvety, and topped with a dollop of whipped cream, they are the perfect companion for a chilly day on the slopes. As you indulge in your chosen libation, the panoramic views of the snow-kissed landscape unfold before you, creating an ambience that is both tranquil and invigorating.

Ooo! And the Irish coffees here are great too if you fancy something extra warming!

Don’t forget, Chalet L’Arpette closes when this ski slopes close, so it’s good for an early après ski, but you will be moving on to the next après ski spot by 4:30 pm.

How to Get to Chalet L’Arpette

Chalet L'Arpette Restaurant is conveniently accessible to skiers within the La Plagne ski resort. To reach the restaurant, simply follow the wide, easy blue slopes down from the peak of the Aprette Chairlift.

TOP TIP: If you are on the fun slope with your family, then be aware that it will drop you at the bottom of Chalet L’Arpette, so you will need to walk up about 5 meters to the entrance to the Chalet L’Arpette. However, when you get to the last corner of the Fun Slope, you can pop out of the Fun Slope to the left, dropping you higher than the Arpette. This is completely doable for kids and nervous skiers.

However, please note that Chalet L'Arpette is not accessible to pedestrians. So, if you're not skiing, it's important to plan accordingly or consider renting skis to experience this delightful culinary haven.
