Ski Quest: Scavenger hunt on skis!

Ski Quest is a new, digital activity for winter 22/23. The idea is digital orienteering combined with a treasure hunt. You download the Ski Quest app and enter your purchase code. Then you've got to come up with a good name for your team. We were in full pirate mode, and so were, of course, The Jolly Rogers.

You can have the app downloaded onto several phones with the same code – this was great because the kids went skiing with Grandad a couple of times to collect checkpoints – sorry, treasures! – on their own.

Ski Quest: A digital treasure hunt

Within the Ski Quest app, you have a digital La Plagne piste map with the checkpoints noted. You can also look at a list view of the checkpoint locations to see how many you have left.

We found the La Plagne piste map view the most useful as we could visually plan the day. The kids also really enjoyed looking at these options and picking which number of treasures we went hunting each day.

And because we are so extra, we turned the piste map into a treasure map in a bottle for the kids to find. They loved getting the treasure map out on the chairlifts to see what was going on.

Ski Quest to Explore La Plagne

If you've never visited La Plagne before, then it's a great way to discover the resort. Most of the virtual checkpoints are at the top or bottom of chairlifts, or near La Plagne mountain restaurants, making it easy to navigate around the slopes.

Even if you know La Plagne well, it's still a great way to ski around La Plagne. Looking at the checkpoints plotted on a piste map each morning helped us plan a route around the resort.

My two children are great skiers, but they are only four and six. So we split the checkpoints over a week and didn't rush to finish it. But I don't think little kids could do more than 4 to 5 in a day.

There are bonus prizes for how many checkpoints you can complete in a day. There are also bonus challenges, like taking silly photos on the slopes. Feel free to try this still photo my sister and I took with my 6-year-old!

I totally recommend SKi Quest, it was a lot of fun and my kids, me and the grandparents really got into it. It really helped us plan out days, try out different slopes, and visit different restaurants for lunch and hot chocolate stops.
