Alps2Alps review: La Plagne transfers for families

Alps2Alps review: is it the right La Plagne transfer for your family?
There’s a special kind of tired that only exists at Geneva arrivals: three kids, five ski bags, one buggy with a dodgy wheel, and someone who “really needs a wee” the second you’ve loaded everything into the car. I’ve lived in Plagne Centre for 20 years and used to manage a hotel here, so I’ve watched a LOT of families stagger in after a transfer day. Getting this bit right makes a huge difference to the first night of your holiday.
Alps2Alps is one of the names that pops up everywhere when you search for transfers to La Plagne. I met some of their team in October, so here’s what they offer, who I think they suit, and how to get money off.

Who are Alps2Alps?
Alps2Alps is a big transfer company with a UK office, and they’ve been running ski transfers for over 15 years. They say most transfers use their own vehicles and their own drivers. There’s an app where you can track your driver in real time, and every booking comes with a free eSIM for mobile data. That’s handy if you’ve forgotten to sort roaming (we’ve all done it).
I’ve met a few of the team, and they were full of energy, really positive and lovely to chat to. They came across as real people who care about getting it right, and that always makes me warm to a company.
The transfer types, in plain English
- Private transfer: just your family, door to door, and you leave as soon as you’re through arrivals. This is their most popular option and the easiest with kids.
- Shared transfer (door to door): cheaper, but you share with other skiers. Their FAQ says you might wait up to two hours at the airport for everyone to land.
- Shared Economy: coach-style seats at a fixed price per person, with set pick-up and drop-off points rather than door to door. On the Basic fare, ski bags and child seats cost extra.
- VIP: posher cars and extra luggage space, if someone else is paying.
Which airports do they cover for La Plagne?
| Airport | Distance | Their quoted time |
|---|---|---|
| Chambéry | 118 km | 1 hr 31 |
| Grenoble | 190 km | 2 hr 11 |
| Lyon | 195 km | 2 hr 14 |
| Geneva | 197 km | 2 hr 20 |
They also pick up from train stations, which is great news if you’re coming by ski train. Those times are for clear roads. On a busy Saturday or in heavy snow it can take a lot longer. Alps2Alps say bad weather can occasionally double the journey time, so pack snacks. All the snacks.

Family questions answered
Do Alps2Alps provide car seats?
Yes, child seats and booster seats are available on request, so add them when you book. Their FAQ says online prices for private and shared transfers include luggage, ski kit and child seats. On the cheaper Shared Economy coaches, child seats are an extra.
Can we bring ski bags, board bags and a buggy?
Yes. Skis and boards go in the boot and must be in a ski bag. Buggies (and bikes) need to be booked in advance, so add a note when you book. Their FAQ lists one piece of luggage plus ski kit per person. If you pack like we do, with a “just in case” bag for every child, give them a heads-up.
Where do we meet the driver?
A rep waits in arrivals holding a sign with your name on it. If you can’t find them, there’s a 24/7 emergency number, and you can track your driver in the app. Shared Economy passengers go to a set pick-up point instead.
What if our flight is late?
Tell them as soon as you know. For private transfers, they say they’ll wait up to an hour, depending on their schedule, and if it’s longer they’ll arrange another private vehicle. On a shared transfer you’ll go on the next shared service. Extra charges may apply for delays over an hour, so it’s worth checking your travel insurance too.
Will they drop us at the door?
Yes, all private and shared transfers are door to door. The exceptions are closed roads or car-free areas, where they’ll get you as close as they can. Worth knowing if you’re staying somewhere pedestrian like Belle Plagne.
Can we change or cancel?
For private and shared door-to-door transfers, cancellation is free up to 24 hours before. On the busiest Saturdays (the last Saturday of the year, the first Saturday of the new year and the first three Saturdays in February), that becomes 72 hours. Changes are done by email up to 24 hours before, with no admin fee, but you pay any price difference. The Shared Economy fares have their own cancellation rules, so check before you book.

My take: who should book Alps2Alps?
I haven’t used Alps2Alps myself, but plenty of people I know have. The feedback has been “prompt and reliable”: no rave reviews, no horror stories. On transfer day, a dull journey that turns up on time is exactly what you want.
I’d recommend them if you:
- are watching the budget, especially if you can travel midweek or are happy with a Shared Economy seat
- want lots of choice: four airports, train stations, any day of the week and plenty of pick-up times
- like booking everything in one place: they also do ski hire and lift passes, with a discount on your transfer when you add them
- want the discount: 5% off automatically through my link
Reviews have been mixed in the past. They’ve told me they’re working hard on it, so do check recent reviews before you book, and let me know how you get on.
Other La Plagne transfer options
Alps2Alps aren’t my only recommendation, so here’s who else I’d look at:
- Alpine Fleet: my Official Transfer Partner this winter, especially for shared transfers. Readers get 5% off.
- JB Taxi: my first pick for private transfers, with 5% off for readers.
- Ski-Lifts: shared and private transfers, and another good option. Readers get between 5 and 10% off.
