Who are JB Taxi?

One of the reasons I like working with JB Taxi is that this is a genuinely local La Plagne business.

The story starts long before JB Taxi itself existed.

Jean-Benoit Pugin began working for the La Plagne lift company in 2000. In 2007, he started driving taxis for a small local company on his days off.

Then, in 2009, he became a pisteur secouriste artificier in La Plagne, working on ski patrol, mountain safety and avalanche prevention.

Jean Benoit from JB Taxi La Plagne

In 2017, Jean-Benoit obtained his first taxi licence and founded JB Taxi. He continued combining the taxi business with his pisteur work until 2021, when he moved across to running JB Taxi full time.

Since then, the business has expanded beyond individual taxis to include vehicles capable of carrying much larger groups.

For me, that local background matters.

La Plagne airport transfers aren't simply about getting from A to B. The final part of the journey involves mountain roads where snow, weather, Saturday traffic and changing road conditions can all affect your journey.

Having a company that actually comes from this area and knows these roads is one of the reasons JB Taxi is an option I’m comfortable recommending.

Which airports does JB Taxi transfer from?

JB Taxi offers private airport transfers between La Plagne and several of the major airports used for ski holidays in the French Alps.

They currently cover:

  • Geneva Cointrin Airport
  • Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport
  • Grenoble Isère Airport
  • Chambéry Airport
  • Turin Airport
  • Milan Airport

For most UK families heading to La Plagne, Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble and Chambéry are likely to be the most relevant.

Geneva Airport to La Plagne with JB Taxi

Geneva is one of the main airports used by visitors travelling to La Plagne.

JB Taxi gives an indicative journey time of around 2 hours 30 minutes between Geneva and La Plagne in normal traffic conditions.

Their example fare for a private Geneva to La Plagne transfer for 1 to 4 passengers is €420.

This is an example fare rather than a guaranteed price. Your actual quote will depend on factors including your travel date, time, passenger numbers and luggage.

Lyon Airport to La Plagne with JB Taxi

JB Taxi also provides private transfers from Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport to La Plagne.

The indicative journey time in normal conditions is around 2 hours 30 minutes.

Their example price for 1 to 4 passengers is €500.

Again, this should be used for budgeting rather than treated as a fixed fare.

Chambéry Airport to La Plagne with JB Taxi

Chambéry is closer to La Plagne, with JB Taxi giving an indicative journey time of around 1 hour 30 minutes in normal conditions.

Their example private transfer price for 1 to 4 passengers is €360.

Flight availability from Chambéry can be more limited than from larger airports, so I would look at the complete journey when comparing airport options, rather than transfer time alone.

Grenoble Airport to La Plagne with JB Taxi

JB Taxi's indicative journey time from Grenoble Isère Airport to La Plagne is around 2 hours 30 minutes in normal traffic.

Their example fare for a private transfer for 1 to 4 passengers is €500.

Turin and Milan airport transfers

JB Taxi also lists Turin and Milan among the airports they serve.

Indicative prices and journey times for these routes haven't been provided in the information I currently have, so contact JB Taxi for a personalised quote.

JB Taxi train station transfers to La Plagne

Flying isn't the only way to reach La Plagne.

JB Taxi also provides private transfers from several railway stations, including:

  • Aime La Plagne
  • Moûtiers
  • Bourg-Saint-Maurice
  • Grenoble
  • Chambéry
  • Landry

For La Plagne itself, Aime is particularly useful.

Aime La Plagne train station to La Plagne

Aime La Plagne is down in the valley, so arriving at the station doesn't mean you've actually arrived at your accommodation yet.

You still need to make the journey up the mountain to your La Plagne village.

JB Taxi gives an indicative journey time of around 30 minutes from Aime to La Plagne in normal conditions, with an example price of €60 for 1 to 4 passengers.

The exact journey will depend on where you're staying within La Plagne, as well as traffic and weather conditions.

Moûtiers and Bourg-Saint-Maurice to La Plagne

JB Taxi also provides transfers from Moûtiers and Bourg-Saint-Maurice stations.

The indicative journey time from either station is around 45 minutes in normal conditions.

The current example price for 1 to 4 passengers is €110 from Moûtiers and €110 from Bourg-Saint-Maurice.

This can be particularly useful if your chosen train doesn't stop at Aime or you're arriving in the Tarentaise via a different route.

How much does a JB Taxi transfer to La Plagne cost?

Here are some example prices from JB Taxi to give you an idea of what your transfer might cost. These examples are for 1 to 4 passengers:

Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport to La Plagne€5002 hrs 30
Grenoble Isère Airport to La Plagne€5002 hrs 30

These aren't fixed fares.

JB Taxi says prices can vary depending on the date and time of travel, number of passengers and the amount, size, weight and volume of your luggage.

You therefore need to complete their online form to receive a personalised quote for your journey.

Prices and availability can also change, so check your current quote rather than relying on the examples above when budgeting for your holiday.

And don't forget to claim your 5% off these prices with your exclusive code THATSLAPLAGNE2027.

Are JB Taxi transfers private or shared?

JB Taxi transfers are private.

You're booking transport for your own party rather than purchasing individual seats on a scheduled shared transfer.

That can make JB Taxi particularly useful for families, larger groups or travellers who want their transport organised around their own flight or train rather than a shared transfer timetable.

It won't necessarily be the right option for everyone.

If your main priority is finding the lowest possible price for one or two passengers, it's worth comparing the cost with shared airport transfers before deciding.

For a family or group, compare the total price rather than simply looking at a per-person headline fare.

Who is JB Taxi best for?

I'd particularly consider JB Taxi in a few situations.

Families travelling with children

Child and baby seats are available as long as you tell JB Taxi what you need when making your booking request.

With children, ski bags and luggage to organise, having a private vehicle waiting for your party can also remove some of the logistics involved in joining a scheduled shared transfer.

Groups travelling together

The fleet goes well beyond standard taxis.

Vehicles are available for groups of up to 8, 19 and 57 passengers, so JB Taxi can potentially keep larger parties together rather than splitting everyone between several taxis.

Make sure you provide accurate passenger and luggage numbers when requesting your quote.

Travellers arriving by train

If you're coming by rail, particularly into Aime La Plagne, JB Taxi provides the final connection from the valley up to resort. This is something that a lot of the other transfer companies won't do, as they have only got the mid-sized 8-seater minibusses and want to focus on longer journeys. JB are great in that they do transfers and taxis, so they are happy to pick up these train connections as well as airport transfers.

Visitors who need taxis during their holiday

JB Taxi isn't only an airport transfer company.

They provide transport around La Plagne and to other resorts in the surrounding ski areas, which can be useful if you need a taxi during your stay.

Where can JB Taxi take you in La Plagne?

JB Taxi covers the main La Plagne villages, including:

Their wider Paradiski coverage includes Les Arcs and Peisey-Vallandry.

They also list destinations across Les 3 Vallées, including Courchevel, Val Thorens, Méribel, Les Menuires and La Tania, as well as Tignes and Val d'Isère.

So if you're combining resorts, changing accommodation or need transport somewhere other than an airport, it's worth asking for a quote.

What vehicles does JB Taxi use?

Vehicle choice is particularly relevant if you're travelling as a family or larger group.

Taxis and VTCs for up to 8 passengers

JB Taxi's taxis and VTCs can carry a maximum of 8 passengers.

They state that there is space for one hold suitcase and one cabin bag per passenger.

Vehicles are equipped with winter tyres, with chains available for difficult winter conditions, as well as air conditioning.

JB Taxi private transfer vehicles for up to 8 passengers in La Plagne

Mercedes Sprinter for up to 19 passengers

For larger groups, JB Taxi operates Mercedes Sprinter coaches carrying up to 19 passengers.

These also have winter tyres, chains and air conditioning.

JB Taxi 19-seat Mercedes Sprinter minibuses for group transfers to La Plagne

Coaches for up to 57 passengers

JB Taxi also has coaches capable of carrying up to 57 passengers.

This makes them an option worth investigating for large groups travelling to La Plagne, rather than automatically assuming you'll need several separate transfer vehicles.

Can you take skis and luggage in a JB Taxi?

Yes, but tell them exactly what you're bringing when you request your quote.

JB Taxi's standard luggage guidance allows each passenger:

  • One standard suitcase up to 158cm total dimensions
  • Maximum suitcase weight of 23kg
  • One item of hand luggage up to 10kg

Their taxis, VTCs and coaches are equipped to transport skis.

However, every vehicle has a limit to the amount of luggage and ski equipment it can physically carry.

If your group has more equipment than will fit safely in the vehicle, JB Taxi can provide a trailer. This comes at an additional cost and will be included in your quote.

This is particularly worth thinking about for a large ski group. Eight passengers plus eight suitcases, hand luggage and ski equipment takes up a lot of room, even if the vehicle itself seats eight.

Give JB Taxi accurate information when booking so they can allocate the right vehicle or trailer from the start.

Does JB Taxi provide baby and child seats?

Yes.

JB Taxi has vehicles equipped with baby and child seats.

You need to tell them what you require when making your booking so the appropriate seats can be arranged.

I would include the number and ages of your children when completing the form rather than simply writing “child seats required”.

How to book a JB Taxi transfer

JB Taxi uses an online quote request rather than simply giving every journey one fixed price.

The process is straightforward.

  1. Complete the online form with your journey and passenger details.
  2. Include accurate information about children, child seats, skis and luggage.
  3. Put THATSLAPLAGNE2027 in the comments section of the form.
  4. Submit your request.
  5. You'll receive an email from JB Taxi with your personalised quote and a payment link.
  6. Your booking is confirmed once you've paid using the payment link in the email.

The comments box is important.

The That’s La Plagne discount isn't automatically activated simply by visiting the booking page. You need to enter the code when requesting your quote so JB Taxi can apply the 5% discount to your personalised price.

Where will I meet my JB Taxi driver?

One question that's easy to overlook until you're standing in an airport with children, bags and skis is where you're actually supposed to meet your driver.

At an airport, your JB Taxi driver will wait in the arrivals hall after baggage reclaim and customs. They'll have a sign displaying your name.

At a train station, the driver will wait at the station exit, in the arrivals hall or immediately outside it, again with your name displayed.

For pickups from hotels and residences, the driver will park as close as practically possible to the entrance, ideally near reception and somewhere visible.

If you can't find your driver, JB Taxi can be contacted on +33 4 79 09 03 41.

How long should I allow for a La Plagne airport transfer?

The journey times earlier in this guide assume normal traffic conditions.

And that's an important distinction!

Mountain roads, snow and ice can affect journey times, but one of the biggest considerations during the ski season is traffic.

Saturdays during school holiday periods can be particularly busy in the Tarentaise Valley because large numbers of holidaymakers are arriving and departing at similar times.

JB Taxi specifically advises travellers not to rely solely on the journey time shown by Google Maps. Weather, road closures and traffic can all change the situation.

If you have flexibility over your travel dates, travelling midweek can avoid some of the busiest changeover traffic.

If you have to travel on a Saturday, which many ski holidaymakers do, build more flexibility into your plans and don't assume a normal 2 hour 30 minute journey will always take exactly 2 hours 30.

For departure transfers, follow the pickup time recommended by the transfer company. They know the local roads and current conditions.

What happens if my flight or train is delayed?

JB Taxi monitors the flight and train arrival times provided by customers, but you should still contact them as soon as possible if you know you're going to be delayed.

For airport pickups, JB Taxi's current terms include up to 2 hours of waiting time from the originally scheduled landing time at no additional charge. After this, additional waiting charges may apply. Delays of more than 4 hours can be treated as a no-show.

For train station pickups, up to 30 minutes of waiting time is included from the agreed pickup time. Additional charges may apply after this, and delays of more than 90 minutes can be treated as a no-show.

Problems or delays collecting your luggage are covered by the same airport delay conditions.

If you're delayed, keep JB Taxi updated rather than assuming your driver will automatically wait indefinitely.

For the full details and current waiting charges, check the JB Taxi terms and conditions.

What happens if I'm late for my taxi?

If your driver is waiting to collect you from an address, JB Taxi allows up to 15 minutes of waiting time.

After that, additional waiting charges may apply.

If you know you're going to be late, contact JB Taxi as soon as possible on +33 4 79 09 03 41.

Can I change or cancel a JB Taxi booking?

Yes, the table makes this much easier to understand quickly. I’d use this as the finished section:

Can I change or cancel a JB Taxi booking?

Yes, but how much you're refunded depends on when you cancel.

JB Taxi's current cancellation terms are:

When you cancelRefund
Within 24 hours of receiving your booking confirmation after payment, provided the journey is still at least 48 hours awayFull refund
At least 14 days before the transferFull refund
Between 14 and 7 days before the transfer50% refund
Less than 7 days before the transferNo refund, except in qualifying force majeure circumstances with supporting evidence

JB Taxi reserves the right to retain a €25 cancellation fee to cover administration and banking costs. Refunds are made in euros, with JB Taxi stating a timeframe of between 24 hours and 5 days after confirming the cancellation.

If you need to change your booking rather than cancel it, changes are subject to availability. If the new journey costs more, JB Taxi will provide a new quote for the difference. The change is confirmed once you've accepted the new price, paid any additional amount and received confirmation from JB Taxi.

A €25 administration fee applies to modifications. If a change reduces the cost of your journey, the difference can be refunded when the change is requested at least 14 days before travel. Within 14 days, JB Taxi's terms state that the price difference isn't refundable.

To request a change or cancellation, email contact@jbtaxi-laplagne.com and include your booking confirmation.

As terms can change, check JB Taxi's current conditions before booking:

My view on JB Taxi

There are lots of companies that will drive you to La Plagne, so for me this isn't about claiming that one company is the right choice for absolutely everyone.

What I particularly like about JB Taxi is how local the business is.

Jean-Benoit's background here stretches from working on the La Plagne lifts to being a pisteur secouriste before developing JB Taxi into the business it is today.

I've also had plenty of friends, family and clients use JB Taxi, and I work with the team here in resort.

I live here, I run a local business here, and I'm a big believer in supporting good local businesses where I can.

That doesn't automatically make JB Taxi the cheapest option for every journey. If you're travelling alone and looking for the lowest-cost seat from an airport, for example, compare private and shared transfer prices.

But if you want a private transfer, you're travelling as a family or group, or you'd simply prefer to book with a company that actually knows La Plagne and the surrounding mountain roads, JB Taxi is well worth getting a quote from.

How to book JB Taxi and get 5% off
