Le Biollet Restaurant, La Plagne: A Practical Review

Le Biollet Restaurant La Plagne

As someone who not only lives in a ski resort but also works as a family ski expert, finding the perfect dining spot on the slopes is essential. One such La Plagne restaurant that recently captured my attention is Le Biollet at the top of the Becoin chairlift. Up above La Plagne Centre and Aime 2000, I’ve skied past Le Biollet more times than I can count, but I’ve rarely stopped there. Mainly because it’s at the top of one of my first lifts of the day, so I’m just not looking to stop yet.

But I’ve always heard – and seen! -good things! Le Biollet is a lively and busy restaurant, boasting a small, solid seated menu, as well as a fast food self-service section and a lively bar and apres ski vibe!

Join me as I share my experience and fully review Le Biollet restaurant, La Plagne.

Where to Find Le Biollet

Situated at the peak of the Becoin chairlift, the only way down is on one of the steep blue slopes. Le Biollet is accessible for more intermediate skiers. Open from 9 am until the lifts close, it's a convenient pitstop during your skiing adventures, whether it's a morning coffee, long lunch or apres ski session.

How to Book Le Biollet

Le Biollet Menu Options

Le Biollet offers a small but good menu. From sharing platters, aperitifs, salads, and starters to burgers, pasta, and main dishes. Plus a kids menu with chicken goujons or burger and chips. However, my kids enjoyed crepes from the snack self-service instead, which worked out perfectly for everyone. The fast food menu has other items like hot dogs for those on the go.

Le Biollet Private Rental

One of the most unique things about Le Biollet is that you can privatise their roof terrace. For groups of 10 or more, Le Biollet offers an open-air upstairs terrace for private use. The private BBQ menu includes cote du boeuf, grilled duck, cooked on the Brasero, salads, fries, and cheese platters.

I’m seriously considering this for the next time we have friends visiting!

Après Ski at Le Biollet

Whilst we were there for lunch, Le Biollet also has a strong reputation for it’s apres ski vibes. And it’s easy to see why. With stunning 360 views down towards Plagne Centre, Aime 2000 and Mont Blanc. But also across to Courchevel and the Three Valleys, it's quite a different viewpoint to most other places around La Plagne.

The apres ski party starts at 3 pm daily and runs until the ski slopes close. It’s a great spot to enjoy apres and then easily ski (sensibly!) back into Aime 2000, Plagne 1800 or Plagne Centre.

My Review of Le Biollet

As my family and I settled into the outdoor seating area at Le Biollet, we noticed the clever division. Half the outdoor terrace for quick snacks at the self-service kiosk and the other half, where a friendly waiter took our orders from the menu. It was a thoughtful setup that accommodated both efficiency and a more leisurely dining experience. We were looking for a longer lunch, so we took our seats in the served section of the restaurant.

One thing that immediately caught our attention was the reasonable pricing. Considering the quality of the food, the cost was more than fair. Especially considering the only way to deliver the food is up a mountain on piste basher or Skidoo! It's a welcome relief for a family with a hungry skier, a husband with an appetite, and a kid with a sweet tooth.

The speed of service at Le Biollet was a pleasant surprise. Our meals arrived promptly, allowing us to refuel swiftly without cutting into our precious skiing time. This efficiency is a real asset for a family on the go.

While there is an indoor area, we discovered it's primarily for drinks, not dining. This is worth noting, especially if the weather turns chilly. The top of the Becoin peak is quite exposed, with minimal shelter. So it can be quite cold if there is any wind chill. However, if the sunshine is out, then Le Biollet enjoys the sun longer than many other spots around La Plagne. When the weather's right, the outdoor seating offers a sun-soaked escape.

A highlight for us was that our 5-year-old could order a Nutella crepe from the snack section whilst we had larger meals from the seated menu. Not only was it a perfect lunch option for him, but also a much more affordable option than most kids menu options around the mountains.

A special shout-out goes to the homemade chips. I know it’s simple, but they were delicious! A lot of them got stolen from my plate by our little skier!

We’ll definitely be visiting again when the sun is back, so soak up some of those later rays. And if we manage to get a ski day without the kids, then I’m desperate to check out the apres ski scene if you want to join me?
