Social skiing is back in La Plagne with the Ski Club of GB
If you're looking for people to ski with in La Plagne, there's a new option for winter 2026/27.
For the first time, the Ski Club of Great Britain (SCGB) will have Ski Club Reps based in La Plagne, with the Rep programme running from 16 January to 27 March 2027.
And I think this is particularly interesting for one reason: social skiing.
I regularly hear from people coming to La Plagne who are looking for other adults to ski with.
Maybe you're travelling to La Plagne alone. Perhaps you're on a family ski holiday but you're the only keen skier. Your partner might not ski, your children might be in ski school all day, or perhaps everyone else in your group simply skis at a different level to you.

They share their knowledge and experience of the ski area, help members connect with each other and facilitate social skiing.
That might mean discovering different parts of La Plagne, finding people who enjoy skiing at a similar pace, getting recommendations for places to stop for lunch, or simply having other people to ski and chat with during the day.

Aspiring Ski Club Reps have to complete the Ski Club's Mountain Safety & Leadership Course.
The training covers ski performance, avalanche safety, all-terrain leadership and the practicalities of being a Ski Club Rep.
The Ski Club has been formally training aspiring Reps since the 1960s, and safety and member enjoyment are at the heart of the programme.
So although a Rep isn't acting as your ski instructor or mountain guide, there is a formal training programme behind the role.
Why are Ski Club Reps coming to La Plagne?
La Plagne is joining an established network of Ski Club Rep resorts.
In winter 2025/26, Ski Club Reps joined members for more than 2,500 skier weeks across 23 resorts worldwide.
The Ski Club also had Reps in five French resorts that winter. According to the Ski Club's figures, those five resorts brought together nearly 500 skiers through the Rep programme.
The Ski Club estimates that those skiers represented €1.38 million of business for the five resorts.
Interestingly, the Club says around half of this was “new” business, where members chose the destination because they could ski with a Rep. The other half was “enhanced” business, where members were already planning to visit but felt the Rep programme improved their experience.
For La Plagne, it means joining a programme that already operates in other major French ski resorts and giving visiting Ski Club members another reason to choose and return to the resort.
When will Ski Club Reps be in La Plagne?
The Ski Club Rep programme in La Plagne is scheduled to run from 16 January to 27 March 2027.
That means Ski Club members visiting during the main winter season will have access to the Rep community while they're here.

Being specific makes it much easier to find people who want the same kind of ski day as you.

If you're coming on a solo ski holiday to La Plagne, the social element of the Rep programme is likely to be particularly relevant.

The important thing is finding out what is being offered during your stay and whether it's appropriate for your skiing level.

Different skiing abilities within a family, non-skiing partners, children in lessons and friends wanting to do different things can all leave you searching for some company on the mountain.
