Belle Plagne is one of the 11 villages that make up the La Plagne resort. It's known for its charming alpine architecture, pedestrian-friendly layout, and ski-in-ski-out convenience. The village sits at 2,050 meters, making it the highest village in La Plagne. So even though La Plagne as a ski resort is as snow-sure as you can get in the Alps, Belle Plagne is the peak of that, ensuring reliable snow conditions throughout the season.
Everything is within walking distance, and the main villages are pedestrianised, so it’s really safe to wander around. So it is ideal when managing ski gear and children. The village offers some fantastic restaurants, and some of our family’s favourite restaurants are here. Plus, some great shops and ski schools, making it a self-contained and family-friendly base for your ski holiday.

Hotel Carlina
Hotel Carlina is one of my absolute favourite places to stay in La Plagne, and not just because of its location (which is genuinely brilliant). Sitting just between Belle Plagne and Bellecôte, it’s a true ski-in-ski-out hotel with direct access to the slopes, which makes life so much easier with kids in tow.
This 4-star hotel strikes the right balance between luxury and warmth. I’ve had 2 different friends get married here in the last few years, and it has been an excellent venue both times. The public spaces are lovely, and the rooms are stylish without feeling too formal, and many of them come with balconies offering stunning views across the valley. It’s definitely one of the more luxurious hotels in La Plagne, but still very family-friendly.
The real highlights? The spa and pool are lovely, but the restaurant and large sunny terrace get my vote every time. The professional, local chef serves a mix of traditional Savoyard dishes and more refined French cuisine. Hotel Les Deux Domaines by MMV
If you're looking for an all-inclusive, family-focused ski hotel in Belle Plagne, Hotel Les Deux Domaines is one of the best options. Run by MMV, this hotel is set up with families in mind. This used to be an Esprit hotel, if that helps you imagine the style of the hotel. From the facilities to the flexible packages that help take the pressure off planning every detail.
The location is excellent. It’s just a short walk (or ski) from the Belle Plagne snow front, and with its ski-in-ski-out access, you can be on the slopes quickly each morning. This is a real win if you’ve got kids in ski school or just don’t fancy the daily faff of walking with gear.
Inside, the hotel is relaxed and sociable, with a lively atmosphere and large communal areas. Rooms are fairly simple but practical, and there are some family rooms. You can book ½ board or a full cover option, which covers meals, snacks, après-ski treats, and even some drinks, which makes budgeting much easier, especially with hungry kids to feed.
One of the standout features is the kids’ clubs, which start at 18 months old and are included in many packages. Just remember that this will be in French. There’s also a wellness area with a heated pool and spa. A nice bonus for parents who want a bit of downtime while the kids are entertained.
Overall, Les Deux Domaines is less luxurious than the Carlina. But it is ideal if you want convenience, value, and built-in childcare without needing to organise everything separately.
Hotel Les Balcons
Hotel Les Balcons in Belle Plagne is a solid choice for families who want a mix of traditional alpine charm and modern-day comfort. And this is really a fantastic location. Built in that classic wood-and-stone chalet style, it really feels like a mountain escape, but with all the facilities you’d expect from a family ski hotel.
The rooms and suites are very spacious by ski resort standards, which is ideal if you're travelling with little ones or older kids who need their own space. Many of the rooms come with balconies and panoramic views across the valley or up toward the slopes. I’ve also had clients stay here this winter and also organise a pirate chef for the week to turn it into a catered stay. And they loved it! One of the biggest draws is the on-site wellness centre, which includes a pool, sauna, fitness room, and spa. As for location, you’re just above the main Belle Plagne snow front, with quick access to the lifts and ski schools. I would also note that the slope that the Balcons is on is quite a steep, busy blue piste. So whilst it is ski-in/out, it’s not suitable for beginner or nervous skiers.

Most of the buildings here are purpose-built for ski holidays, meaning nearly all of them are ski-in-ski-out or just a very short walk to the pistes, which makes things a lot easier when you’re hauling ski gear and tired kids.
Tip: If you’ve got little ones who would usually be in a pushchair or buggy, check into your residence layout for stairs and lift access. Some of the older residences have split floors or stair access, making them hard to navigate with a pushchair.
Apartments are especially popular with families who want more space, flexibility, and control over meals. Plus, they’re often much better value than hotels, especially for longer stays or larger groups.
