One of La Bergerie's biggest draws is its vibrant atmosphere. The lunch service wraps up in the late afternoon, and the outdoor terrace becomes a huge dance floor! Skiers of all ages and abilities come together to enjoy the upbeat music, dance, and socialise.
La Bergerie is known for its excellent music and entertainment. There's always live music or a DJ spinning tunes. From 90s cheese to old-school rock and current hits and classic après-ski anthems. Alongside the DJ, there are usually dancers, saxophonists, hype-men, singers, and sometimes even fire artists.
The music keeps the energy high and ensures that everyone has a great time, whether you're dancing or simply enjoying the atmosphere.
How to get to La Bergerie
La Bergerie is on the slopes, up above Plagne Centre and alongside Plagne Village. The slope is, funnily enough, called La Bergerie -so it's pretty easy to find. If you're skiing to Bergerie après, you'll take the Mira blue run, just off of the Colossus chair lift from Bellcôte, or the Bergerie chair lift in Plagne Centre.
If you're not skiing, then you can get the free shuttle bus up to Plagne Villages and then walk up the piste to La Bergerie. I have done this a couple of times when I'd broken my ribs and couldn't ski. It's not the easiest, but it's definitely doable and worth it if you want to meet up with friends for a classic après ski party.
Then afterwards, you can jump on the bus and head back to Plagne Centre.
Food & dining at La Bergerie
La Bergerie isn’t just about après ski – it’s a fantastic lunch spot too. The menu is a little different from your usual mountain fare, offering a mix of classic alpine dishes and lighter options. The service is also impressively fast, which is a real bonus when you’re skiing with a group.
On our latest visit, we had a long ladies’ lunch and sampled a mix of dishes, including magret de canard, the pork dish of the day, a fresh salmon poke bowl, and St Florentine baked cheese with honey and nuts. Portions were generous, and everything was delicious, although my baked cheese would have been even better with something tastier than the plain boiled potatoes it was served with. A little upgrade to roast potatoes, like some of the other dishes had, would have made it a 10/10!
Desserts were also a hit. The lemon cheesecake with citrus caramel sauce was the clear winner – absolutely delicious. I went for the pineapple biscuit finger, which was nice, but I’ll be ordering the cheesecake next time.
Of course, no visit to La Bergerie is complete without a drink to soak up the après vibes. We went for Aperol Spritz – the perfect way to ease into the afternoon party while sitting on the sunny terrace. It’s a great spot to enjoy a more laid-back, grown-up après experience, with the DJ and party atmosphere buzzing on the other side of the venue.
Just don’t forget – you do need to ski home afterwards, so pace yourself accordingly!
For something a little different, La Bergerie also has a small private hut at the end of the main terrace that you can reserve for a private BBQ-style dining experience. The views aren’t the best, but it would be a super cosy option if the weather is cold or a little rough.

- Plan Ahead: During peak season, La Bergerie can get quite busy. If you're planning to visit with a larger group, it's a good idea to get there early. You can't book a table, it's first come, first served.

This sounds so fun! I learned to ski as an adult, but we normally drive up early morning, then drive home after skiing, so I have hardly ever spent time apres ski – if we come to France La Bergerie looks the best possible spot to try it! Whistler does not have anything quite like that!!
Après ski really seems to be a European invention. We did a ski season in Queenstown in New Zealand and it was the same as you say. Living in the valley and driving up and down each day. So there was no option to apres ski in the resort before heading home.
Althogh I am intrigued by the idea of tailgating that seems to happen in the US. The commjunit vibes in the car parks seems to be a big thing with people enjoying picnics and BBQs. I’d lvoe to visit the US or Canada for some ski time soon!
