Jen arrived in La Plagne to work “just one season” for British Tour Operator Mark Warner. She was planning on doing ‘just one winter' as a gap year after university…
But as the story often goes, she never returned to ‘real life.' Instead, she spent about a decade working and travelling, winters in La Plagne and summers managing beach resorts in Egypt, Turkey, Corsica, and more.
With the arrival of her 2 little snow monsters, it was time to settle down – and nowhere felt more like home than La Plagne.
She now lives summer and winter in La Plagne, surrounded by the stunning alpine scenery and motivated by the endless opportunities to hike and mountain bike in the summer and snowboard with her partner and children in the winter.
She decided to set up AlleyOops after realising how difficult it is to travel to the alps with small children. Plus, the amount of equipment kids need – especially when your suitcases are full of warm winter clothing and ski equipment!
Plus, winter 20/21 saw a lot of British Tour Operators reduce their holiday operations. Along with the reduction, fewer childcare companies are operating in La Plagne.
It seemed the perfect time to set up a kid's equipment rental.
She's also trying to lead a cleaner, more environmentally friendly life. Offering visitors to La Plagne the opportunity to rent things rather than buy more plastic bum boards, sledges and toys seems like a move in the right direction!

- Book early; Jen has limited equipment, so it gets booked out. Especially over peak kids' holiday weeks.
- Drop Jen a message – she is super knowledgeable about La Plagne and can help you with childcare and activity recommendations.
- Let Jen know where you are staying – there are several accommodations that aren't super accessible for buggies, so renting one is not a great idea. Instead, perhaps consider a baby carrier.
