Plagne Centre Ice Rink
Central to family fun, Plagne Centre Ice Rink is a hotspot for kids and parents alike:
Location and How to Get There
Right in the middle of Plagne Centre, just behind the main bus station, you can’t miss the ice rink. There’s always lively music playing and the shouts and laughter of those already on the ice!
If you’re staying outside of Plagne Centre, just hop on the free shuttle bus and head to the main stop in Plagne Centre. The ice rink is only 10 metres from the bus stop, making it super easy for non-skiers and little legs to get to.

Family-Fun Activities
Having visited both the Bellecôte and the Plagne Centre ice rinks, I think the Plagne Centre rink is better for families with smaller children: the ice rink is much smaller than the Bellecôte one, making it more contained and safer for little skiers.
There are lots of sleds and cartoon-shaped skate helpers for your kids to hold onto to help them find their skate legs.
Opening Hours
The ice rink is only open in the winter. and it is open daily from 10 am – 12.30 and then in the afternoons from 2.30 pm to 7 pm.
Cost Breakdown
There are ice skates to rent for all ages. And for tiny feet, there are adjustable skates that strap over snow boots – this is what my kids felt most comfortable in until they were about 5 years old.

Bellecôte Ice Rink
Not open for winter 2023/24.
Bellecôte Ice Rink is great for ice enthusiasts of all ages. Here's the lowdown:
Location and Accessibility
The Bellecôte ice rink is outdoors, and next to the Chalet de Colossus restaurant, next to the Colossus chairlift. If you’re a pedestrian, take the free shuttle bus to Bellecôte and then walk towards the pedestrian bubble lift that takes you up to Belle Plagne – but don’t get on. You’ll see the Colossus restaurant just behind it and the ice rink is just to the side.

I’ve visited both the La Plagne ice rinks, and I think the Bellecôte one is more fun for older kids and groups of adults. With more space to play on, it means you can build up more confidence and speed to really let loose.
I also think the views and scenery from the Bellecôte ice rink have the edge on the Plagne Centre rink: in Bellecôte, you have views across the mountains and are surrounded by pine trees, which makes for some great family photos. The Plagne Centre ice rink is in the middle of town and the views aren’t as scenic – but it is a lot easier to get to.
Activities Available
There are ice skates to rent for all abilities and ages, and this rink is larger than the one in Plagne Centre, making it more fun for older kids and adults to build up a bit more confidence and speed. Throughout the winter season, they’ll also organise some ice hockey knock-around – nothing serious, but fun to get involved with.
They also have ice sledges that you can settle smaller children in and enjoy pushing and sliding around the ice with them.
The Colossus restaurant is, of course, the perfect stop for a hot drink to recover after your session on the ice. You’ll find a lovely, warm welcome, a great range of drinks and a delicious food menu. The Colossus Restaurant is family-run and super welcoming for children of all ages. They have lots of books and toys on hand for you to entertain the kids’ – it’s the perfect compliment to a family ice skating adventure.
Cost – Bellecôte ice skating
There are ice skates to rent for all ages and abilities. For a session on the ice, prices start from:
- With skate rental adults: 8€
- With skate rental children (under 12): 6€
- Entry without skate rental: 5€
- Group rates for parties of over 15 people: 6€.
