Autumn is ticking away and here in La Plagne, we are all excitedly looking towards the coming ski season! And this week, booking for a unique La Plagne adventure are opening, one that is always booked out way in advance of the season starting: The La Plagne Over The Moon experience.
You might be wondering what the heck I’m talking about. Well, I'm excited to spill the beans on this unforgettable adventure you absolutely can't miss. Whilst I haven’t done it – yet! I will be one of the first in the booking line this week to bag my spot!

What is La Plagne's Over the Moon Adventure?
Imagine spending a night in a converted piste basher perched at the top of the Aprette piste at a jaw-dropping altitude of 2400 meters above sea level. That's exactly what this adventure promises – a night “Over the Moon” in a cosy mountain haven. The name says it all: you'll feel like you're on top of the world.

The Cosy Nest: inside your Piste Basher home
Let me paint you a picture of your cosy abode. This converted piste basher boasts snug interiors with heating to keep you toasty, a mini-bar stocked with your favourite beverages, a home cinema TV for movie nights, a double bed for ultimate comfort, and even a coffee and tea machine to kickstart your morning.Â
You even have access to a private bathroom, with a jacuzzi complete with views of Mont Blanc!
But the pièce de résistance? Programmable LED lights and panoramic views of the starry sky – it's like sleeping under a celestial blanket. And here's the best part: this experience caters to everyone, whether you're a family, a couple, or a solo adventurer.
Your evening: from sunset to starlight
Picture this: you'll meet your driver at 8:30 pm at the bottom of the Arpette chairlift in Plagne Bellecôte. Your personal chauffeur will drive you up to the top of the Arpette piste and show you to your piste basher home for the evening. After showing you the facilities, your chauffeur will depart the mountain peak on his skidoo and leave to enjoy this Alpine paradise.
As the sun sets behind the mountain peaks, you'll watch in awe from your mountain piste basher retreat. Afterwards, indulge in stargazing, enjoy a drink from the minibar, and immerse yourself in the serene beauty of nature.
The following morning, your Over The Moon chauffeur will return at 7.30 am to pick you up and take you back to Bellecôte. Depending on the time of the season, you’ll be watching the sunrise over the mountains to the east.
What to pack for Over The Moon
Before you embark on this unique adventure, be sure to pack appropriately for the mountain weather. Whilst the piste basher is heated, it’s still recommended to wear layers! Layers, warm socks, and a sense of adventure are essentials. And keep the packing light – you really don’t need very much. For me, I’ll likely plan on relaxing and getting cosy in my base layers and ski socks, very romantic!
Whilst there are some treats and a minibar there for you, I would always recommend taking some snacks (can you tell I’m a mum?!), something delicious to enjoy with your partner. I think I’ll be heading to one of the La Plagne bakeries to pick up some pastries and savoury treats – and maybe a bottle of fizz to enjoy!
And of course, don't forget your camera (and charger!) to capture the breathtaking views and starry skies.
Booking your Over The Moon adventure
Now, let's talk logistics. Booking this once-in-a-lifetime experience is a breeze. The cost is 399€ for 2 people, and you can reserve your spot until 48 hours beforehand. Although, as I said at the start, this experience has been booked out before the season starts since its launch in winter 2018.
The Over The Moon adventure is available throughout the whole winter ski season, with La Plagne opening from December 14th 2024, to April 27th April, so you can choose a date that suits your schedule.
One thing to be aware of is that you can’t exchange dates once you’ve booked Over The Moon.

Tips for a Perfect Night Over the Moon
When you look at booking this experience, of course, you’ll be tying it in with your ski holiday week. One of the things to be aware of is the differences in the sunset and sunrise times from December to April.
