December events in La Plagne
5th – 7th December – Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup
This winter, La Plagne is set to welcome an electrifying event: the Junior Luge World Cup, hosted on the iconic Albertville Olympic Bobsleigh Track from December 3rd to 7th, 2024. Over a hundred talented young athletes from across the globe will test their skills on this legendary track, competing in the first two stages of the international tournament.
What makes this track so special? La Plagne boasts the only Olympic bobsleigh track in France, a legacy of the 1992 Albertville Games. It’s known for its challenging technical features, making it a favourite among international competitors.
Here’s what to expect throughout the week:
- Tuesday, December 3rd: Training
- Wednesday, December 4th: Training
- Thursday, December 5th: Competitions
- Friday, December 6th: Competitions
- Saturday, December 7th: Competitions and Prize-Giving Ceremony
The action runs daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, with Saturday wrapping up the week with the final races and awards.
Spectator Info
Spectators are invited to experience the thrill up close, with access to the track’s service road to watch the athletes in action. Entry is free of charge, but please follow all posted signage, as some areas are reserved for competitors.

7th & 8th December – Early Pre-Opening Weekend
Good news for snow lovers—La Plagne is kicking off the season early with a pre-opening weekend on 7th and 8th December! Thanks to incredible early snowfall, the resort is opening a selection of lifts and slopes for a sneak peek at the winter magic to come.
Here’s what’s open:
- Grande Rochette (bubble lift): Reach some of the best views in the resort.
- Lovatière (chairlift): A classic for cruising on the slopes.
- Bécoin (chairlift): Perfect for exploring early-season terrain.
If you’ve got a season pass, you’re already covered for this bonus weekend. If not, you can grab a lift pass for just 25€ per day, making it an affordable way to enjoy the fresh snow.
And for beginners? You’re in luck! Two lifts are completely free this weekend:
- Boulevard (green slope chairlift): A gentle way to ease into the ski season.
- Indiens (magic carpet): Great for kids and first-time skiers.

14th December – Ski Season Opening Weekend
Get ready to hit the slopes as the ski lifts open this weekend. It's the perfect time to kickstart your family's winter adventure. Lift passes are discounted for this opening week, and the excitement levels are high – so it’s well worth a visit!
After a full day on the slopes, there will be evening DJ sets on the snow, followed by fireworks to celebrate winter 2024/25.
25th December – Christmas Day
Christmas in La Plagne is a fairytale come to life. As the snow blankets our ski resort, it transforms La Plagne into a festive wonderland adorned with twinkling lights and holiday decorations. Christmas Eve is a special treat and is the main celebration evening for the French, whereas Christmas Day is the main dinner and evening for the UK and other nationalities. You can expect torchlight parades and dazzling fireworks. Don't forget to glide across the outdoor ice rinks, taking in the breathtaking alpine scenery. La Plagne at Christmas is a perfect blend of snowy adventure and heartwarming traditions, creating cherished memories for families to cherish.

January events in La Plagne
31st December / 1st January – New Year’s Eve and Day
La Plagne doesn't hold back when it comes to welcoming the New Year. As the clock strikes midnight, this alpine paradise transforms into a dazzling spectacle of fireworks and celebration.
The main event organised by La Plagne is the almost 20-minute-long fireworks display from the Dou Du Praz. This is one of our ski resort mountain peaks, meaning the fireworks can be seen from all the La Plagne altitude villages. Restaurants and bars host special New Year's Eve dinners, ensuring your taste buds are just as delighted as your senses. The countdown to the new year in La Plagne is an experience you won't want to miss, making it a memorable start to your year filled with adventure and excitement in the French Alps.

February events in La Plagne
14th February – Valentine's Day
Lots of fun, free events are happening across La Plagne. From kissing booths, photo stages, and the chance to win lots of lovely prizes.
20th February – P'tits Flambeaux
If you've ever dreamed of getting involved in a torchlight descent, this is the event for you!
A magical event happening each year. This charity, Torchlight Descent, organised by the ESF across the Alps, raised money for children's charities. This year, for 3 charities: Enfance et Montagne, Génération Montagne and Petits Princes through the operation “Famille Plus, la montagne solidaire.
The P'tits Flambeaux is open for nearly everyone to get involved in, from adults to kids. All you need to do is:
- Check your ski level. You need to have a good ski level:
- Adults: Level 2
- Kids: Bronze star and above
- If your kids want to do it, you don't need to accompany them. They will be under the supervision of the ESF instructors.
- Head to one of the tourist info offices in any of the participating villages to buy your torch. Don't worry! They aren't real flames but battery plastic torches. They cost 10€, and the money goes to the charities.
- Head to the meeting point in your village about 30 to 15 minutes before the starting time below and enjoy!
- Plagne Centre & Aime 2000 – Becoin Chairlift 6 pm
- Plagne Villages – In front of the Casa de L'Ours restaurant 6 pm
- Plagne Soleil – on the snow front 6 pm
- Montalbert 6 pm
- Belle Plagne & Bellecote – Blanchets chairlift 6 pm

March events in La Plagne
6th March – Born To Be Show
Prepare to be dazzled by the Born to Be Show on Thursday, 6th March 2025. A magical way to celebrate this year's leap year! The Born to Be Show is organized by the La Plagne Club des Sports, which is the local ski club and team (yep, my kids will be there). The local skiers, from the age of 8 up to the International competitors and Olympic medal winners, participate to raise money for the ski club. And yes, I will be in touch to sell you some raffle tickets!
In the past, we’ve seen synchronized skiing, dancing piste bashers, the La Plagne Olympic stars parapenting onto the stage, plus, of course, a fantastic fireworks display to round it all off. This mesmerizing spectacle blends music, lights, and incredible talent for an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
TBC March – Odyssea La Plagne 2024
Charity run for cancer.
With a variety of distances for all ages, from 5 years and upwards. Some are timed and competitive, and others are for fun!
Reservations are needed, and there are limited spaces. Book before the 4th of March via the link below. The starting point is in Belle Plagne for all the races.
17th March – St Patricks Day
When everyone becomes Irish for a day! Whilst the French aren't big celebrations of Paddy's Day, there will be several parties and fun après sessions happening throughout La Plagne. 14th – 19th April: Mega Bell Course
Looking for a fun and unique way to wrap up your ski season? The Mega Bell Course, La Plagne’s latest event, is here to bring a mix of excitement, laughter, and a touch of friendly competition. Scheduled from 14–19 April 2025, this Easter holiday event is perfect for skiers of all ages and abilities, promising an unforgettable experience for families, friends, and groups.
What makes the Mega Bell Course so special? It’s not your average ski race. This event features five wildly imaginative courses that blend traditional timed runs with unexpected twists and turns. Think quirky shortcuts, tricky penalty zones, and bonus challenges that keep everyone guessing. And yes, bells—those playful Easter icons—aren’t just a theme; they’re cleverly woven into the action and challenges throughout the event.
For maximum flexibility, participants can choose to join the big race day on Saturday or make it a week-long adventure by practising on the courses as they’re revealed each day from Monday to Friday. This setup allows everyone, from first-timers to seasoned racers, to get familiar with the courses and refine their strategy for the main event.
More than just a race, the Mega Bell Course is a celebration of spring skiing in La Plagne. Expect an atmosphere filled with energy, entertainment, and plenty of photo-worthy moments.
