Ambience and Atmosphere at Le Schuss Restaurant
One of the first things you notice about Le Schuss restaurant is its inviting and cosy atmosphere. Located in the middle of Aime 2000, but on the lower level – so down the stairs towards opposite the ski shops. The indoor seating is on the right of the main corridor, and then there is the small terrace outside that has perfect views across the pistes. It's the kind of place where you can kick back and relax after a morning on the slopes or, in our case, a summer hike. The décor is warm and alpine, with plenty of wooden accents that give it a traditional chalet feel.
The restaurant is perfect for families, with a relaxed and friendly vibe that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're dining with kids or just a group of friends, the environment is casual and unpretentious, which is often just what you need in a ski resort. However, it’s worth noting that Le Schuss restaurant is located on the lower level of the main gallery in Aime 2000. This location means it's not the easiest place to access if you have a pram or a wheelchair, as there are some stairs to navigate.
Despite this, the atmosphere more than makes up for any minor inconveniences. It's a spot where you can easily spend a couple of hours enjoying the views, the food, and the company. Plus, there's a communal bathroom area shared with nearby restaurants, and the women's restroom conveniently includes a baby-changing space, which is a nice touch for families with young children. The majority of the seating is indoors, but the small outside terrace is perfect for watching skiers shoot by. If you want an outdoor table, it’s best to book ahead and request it specifically.
Menu and Food Quality at Le Schuss Restaurant
The menu at Le Schuss restaurant is a great mix of traditional Savoyard dishes and more familiar French classics, catering to a variety of tastes. During our visit this summer, my husband and I decided to go for burgers. I opted for the smoked salmon burger, while he chose the classic burger. Both were served with excellent homemade chips that were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, a perfect accompaniment to our meals.
The smoked salmon burger stood out to me. It came with a delicious avocado topping that added a creamy texture and a fresh flavour, making it a unique option that you don’t often find in ski resort restaurants. It was a refreshing twist on a burger and one that I would highly recommend if you’re looking for something a bit different. My husband’s classic burger was equally impressive, juicy, flavourful, and cooked just right.
What also makes Le Schuss restaurant appealing to families is the kids’ menu. At just €10, it offers great value with options like carbonara, pizza or burger and a drink. For those who prefer not to commit to a full meal, there’s also a kids’ burger or pizza available for just €8. I really liked that there is more flexibility for the kids to choose from than the typical menus you find in most restaurants. It’s nice to have the flexibility to choose between a full meal or something a bit lighter, depending on your child's appetite.
Pricing at Le Schuss Restaurant
One of the biggest draws of Le Schuss restaurant is its reasonable pricing, which can be a rarity in ski resorts. The kids’ menu is particularly well-priced at €10, which includes a main dish and dessert, making it an affordable option for families. As mentioned earlier, there are also a la carte options for kids, such as the burger and pizza at €8 each.
For adults, the prices are equally reasonable. The burgers, including both the smoked salmon and the classic, are priced at €16, which is a great deal considering the quality and the generous portions. Pizzas start from €10 for a Marguerita and then upwards, offering a range of toppings to suit different tastes. This makes it easy to enjoy a delicious meal without worrying too much about the cost, which is always a bonus when you’re on a family holiday.
