Countdown to the La Plagne Summer Season

La Plagne Resort is open on 29th June 2024!

The anticipation is building, and the La Plagne summer season is just around the corner. Whilst restaurants and bars will be open earlier than the 29th of June, the summer bike lifts are switched on on the 29th of June and close on the 31st of August.

Summer 2024 La Plagne Events

Let's take a look at some of the exciting events lined up for this summer in La Plagne:

La Plagne Clean-Up Day/ Montagne Zero Dechet

June 1st

2024 is the second edition of the La Plagne clean-up day. In 2023, 130 volunteers collected over 1 tonne of rubbish in 1.5 hours! Spread over both the La Plagne altitude villages and the valley, 2024 will see even more people come together to clear the waste and rubbish from the slopes of the La Plagne mountains so we can all enjoy the summer.

Super 8 Downhill & E-Bike Competition

12th – 14th June

The La Plagne Super 8 mountain biking event has a mix of races for everyone to get involved in. With long-distance to amateur and kids races.

Find out more about the La Plagne Super 8 bike competition here.

6000D Trail Running Competition

25th – 27th July

“To each his own 6000D”

We aren't all super runners. Some are leisurely, others are Saturday runners, and others are not old enough to do 67 km!

So what to do? La Plagne has opened up the 6000D to all levels with 8 races over 3 days for all runners.

The 6D Kids from 6 to 15 years old, the 6D Adventure from 6 to 16 years old (with an adult), the 6D Discovery for beginners, the 6D Lakes, the 6D Marathon for the ambitious, the 6D Bob for the original. Plus, 2 new races for 2024: the Défoulée and the Défi. We guarantee it, a race is waiting for you!

New for Summer 2024 La Plagne

La Plagne Glacier – AéroLive

One of the most exciting additions for the 2023/24 ski season was the new ski lift opening up the Bellecôte Glacier. The peak is known as “Live 3000” and has been a huge hit over the winter season.

For summer 2024, with a world first, La Plagne is introducing the AéroLive experience. Simply put, these are minimalist gondola cabins, open to the elements. But don't panic! Passengers are harnessed and attached to the cabin with a safety lifeline.

Ride all the way to the peak at over 3000m with the wind in your hair and enjoy the panoramic views from the heights of La Plagne and at the Sixième Ciel café.

The La Plagne Refuges

When you're in a ski resort, you might have heard people talking about”refuges.” But what is a refuge? Simply put, they are usually basic mountain huts or lodges, often old shepherds stays from the past. Now, many of these old mountain huts have been converted into refuges – of varying luxury! – that you can stay in. From simple hostel-style accommodations to luxury with Savoyard cooking.

Think of them as a cosy alpine getaway that offers a warm welcome to hikers, climbers, and nature enthusiasts during the summer months.

You might not know this, but there are 7 hidden refuges dotted throughout La Plagne. This summer, 2 new refuges joined the list.

  • Huttopia – the campsite in Champagny has had a revamp, ready for summer 2024. Huttopia is renowned for creating ecotourism accommodations, and this site has 100 pitches, 15 caravans, and wood tents.
  • Gîte Panoramik – A stunning apartment in a family-owned stone chalet. Perfect for 6 – 8 people available to stay in looking down towards Champagny.

Nighttime Horse Riding

A really special way to explore the La Plagne mountains. This new activity from the Chalet des Vignobles equestrian farm runs from 8 pm – 1130pm. Enjoy riding the beautiful sand-coloured Henson horses through dusk. Stop for a classic, Savoyard aperitif with local products to try with cheeses like Tomme and Beaufort, charcuterie meats and local wines.

Find out more about nighttime horse riding and other activities here.

Bike n Raft Day

A new activity day with 73 tracks.

Starting in La Plagne with your guide, you’ll make a memorable descent of around 1500 meters of pure downhill tracks all the way to the valley. After a little pause for lunch, your fully certified instructor will show the way to our partners-in-crime, AN Rafting, where you will plunge into the waters of the legendary Isère River for a full-on, fun afternoon of white water rafting. Be prepared to get wet!

  •  138€ all-inclusive with a meal at the Rive Gauche restaurant located on-site at the AN Rafting whitewater base. Delicious homemade cuisine in a remarkable setting
  • 115€ without lunch at the restaurant (lunch must be provided by yourself; picnic tables are available)
