La Plagne’s food scene is getting a quiet upgrade this winter – and honestly, it’s about time. From chef takeovers to brand-new management teams, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes that’s going to shake up where you eat and drink this season.
These aren’t just any new openings either. Some of the resort’s best-known chefs and bar owners are stepping into new roles, bringing fresh ideas (and excellent menus) with them. Whether you’re after a cosy lunch mid-ski or a buzzy après-ski dinner, these spots are well worth checking out.

Joya – New Life for a Local Favourite
Joya is back – and stronger than ever before! Now under the creative direction of Sam, the chef behind past favourites like Expedition, this Plagne Centre spot has become a firm favourite among locals this summer. And that’s saying something.
Expect big flavours, thoughtful dishes, and a vibe that’s both welcoming and quietly confident. Sam’s knack for unfussy but elevated food shines here – think comforting classics with a twist, and plates designed to be shared with friends and family after a day on the mountain.
It’s already built a loyal following over the summer months, so I’ve got high hopes for winter. Whether you’re booking a casual dinner or just dropping in for a drink and some people-watching, Joya deserves a spot on your list.

Le Dou du Praz – under new management
There’s been a quiet but important shift at Dou du Praz this year: Ludo, the much-loved owner, has stepped away to focus full-time on Petit Chaperon Rouge in Plagne 1800.
But don’t worry – the atmosphere you love isn’t going anywhere. After a standout winter in 2024/25, Clément and Vincent are stepping in to run things, and they’re keeping the energy high, the welcome warm, and the food just as good.
If you loved Dou du Praz for its lively terrace, family-friendly feel, and delicious food, you’ll still feel right at home. It’s one of those spots where the locals go, which says a lot.

Le Vins et 1 – Aime 2000
Le Vins et 1 has always been a bit of a hidden gem – more burger & bar than full-on restaurant, and known for its relaxed, low-key vibe.
It’ll be interesting to see what direction it takes. It’s the kind of place that could either lean into a more curated, wine-and-small-plates direction or shift toward something more accessible for families.
Right now, it’s one to keep on your radar.
Mama’s Kitchen – Rebranding, But the Food Lives On
Big changes are brewing at Mama’s Kitchen in Plagne Centre. While the much-loved Clem has handed over the reins, they've kept the Mama’s brand and logos. So this lively street-food spot will hopefully pop up this winter.
The good news? The kitchen setup is staying the same, so if you were a fan of their homemade kebabs, wraps and no-fuss family lunches, it’s still very much one to watch.
Details are still under wraps, but I’ll update this post as soon as the new name and vibe are confirmed.

No Huski Deliveries This Winter
The team have confirmed they’re taking a break, with plans to return for winter 2026/27, so this is just a temporary gap rather than a permanent goodbye.
If you loved their “oven-to-table” meals, it might be time to get creative. Stock up at the local Spar, or try one of the new takeaway and catering options popping up around resort this year. I’ll keep this post updated if any new delivery services appear during the season.

Spitting Feathers in Plagne Bellecôte now La Rambarde
Plagne Bellecôte’s long-standing Brit pub, Spitting Feathers, has changed hands and will now go by the name La Rambarde. Under new management as of summer 2025, the vibe so far leans more pub than restaurant, but winter plans are still to be confirmed. It’ll be one to watch if you’re after a relaxed post-ski pint without straying too far from the lifts.
La Grotte du Yeti Comes to Bellecôte
Big après-ski energy is landing in La Plagne this winter with the arrival of La Grotte du Yeti in Bellecôte. Taking over the former Le Capricorne restaurant spot, this well-known party bar, already a hit in resorts like Risoul and Les 2 Alpes, is set to turn up the volume with DJs, drinks deals, and a buzzing terrace scene. If you’re skiing with mates or planning a night out, this could be your new go-to.
NEW: Food recycling arrives in La Plagne
This winter, La Plagne has taken a big step forward on the sustainability front, with the introduction of dedicated food recycling bins across parts of the resort.
If you live here or you're staying a bit longer, this is a game-changer. You can now compost all food waste, including:
- Raw or cooked meat and fish
- Dairy, bones, and eggshells
- Veg peelings, bread, and leftovers
The bins have been rolled out in residential and municipal buildings so far, with plans to expand further. You won’t find them at every public waste point just yet, but that could change with a bit of local demand.

Matthieu at MCS Immobilier has a new office in Plagne Centre. Which makes popping in for a chat as easy as grabbing a coffee. He also has a local English speaking mum working on the desk there, so you know you’ll be able to speak to someone in English if the language barrier is a concern. Matthieu is another long-time resident with deep local knowledge and a relaxed but professional approach that works well for international buyers.
MCS has a good mix of resale apartments and potential renovation projects. Plus rentals too. So if you’re looking for something a bit off-market or specific to a certain village, he’s a great resource. Again, I recommend Matthieu because he genuinely knows his stuff, knows the area and is easy to work with.

New Roche de Mio Gondola (From Bellecôte)
Big news for families staying in Bellecôte this winter: the old lift to Roche de Mio has been replaced with a sleek, modern gondola – and it’s a huge upgrade. Gone are the long queues and awkward steps – this new lift is faster, more comfortable, and much easier with kids in tow.
The new cabins are more spacious, better ventilated, and designed to keep things moving smoothly even at peak times. It’s a real win if you’re based in Belle Plagne or Bellecôte and want quick access to the glacier or over to the Champagny side.

Aime La Plagne Gondola – Final Decision Coming 2026
La Plagne has proposed a new Aime La Plagne gondola that could completely change how we access the resort from the Aime train station on valley floor. It’s not happening just yet – the final decision will be made in February 2026 – but if approved, it would link Aime station directly to the resort by 2029.
For now, it’s one to watch. Especially if you're a regular visitor who flies or takes the train into the valley – this could make travel days a whole lot simpler in the future.
What’s On: Events in La Plagne This Winter

New Year’s Eve Party Returns After Five-Year Break
La Plagne is turning up the volume this winter with the long-awaited return of La Nuit du Pompon Rouge. It's the resort’s iconic open-air New Year’s Eve bash. Back for the first time since 2020, this themed sound and light show will light up the night on Wednesday, 31 December 2025. Complete with a buzzing outdoor dance floor and party atmosphere.
Whether you’re ringing in midnight with mates or sneaking out while the kids are tucked up, it’s set to be a proper alpine celebration.

Born 2 Be Show – February Half-Term Favourite
The Born 2 Be Show has become a bit of a February staple in La Plagne. It’s confirmed to return during the school holidays on February 19th, 2026.
What is it? Think ski acrobatics, lasers, fireworks and live music – all rolled into one big, family-friendly mountain show. It’s loud, fun, and totally unforgettable for kids (and grown-ups) who want a bit of extra magic on their holiday.
Top tips:
- Get there early for the best viewing spots
- Layer up – it’s an outdoor evening event, and it gets chilly
- Don’t drive – buses will be packed, so plan your return journey in advance

Odyssea Returns to La Plagne
After a one-year break, the Odyssea La Plagne is back this winter, bringing its signature mix of snow, sport, and solidarity. Taking place in March, this fun and family-friendly race supports breast cancer charities and sees hundreds of pink-clad runners and walkers take over the pistes for a great cause. Whether you're racing, spectating, or just cheering on the crowd, it’s one of the most uplifting events of the season.

Mega Bell Course Returns for 2026
After last year’s weather cancellation, the Mega Bell is back on the calendar for 4–6 April 2026. And it’s set to be bigger than ever. This family fun event is a little unknown as it was cancelled last year due to heavy snow and poor weather. But it will be a great way to spend Easter Weekend. Whether you're competing or just watching, it’s a proper adrenaline spectacle and a great way to wrap up the season.
