Where to eat Christmas dinner in La Plagne: a local's guide
One of the magical reasons for living in La Plagne is that every day in winter is like Christmas! But when the actual festive season arrives, I can't help but get excited about Christmas in La Plagne. The twinkling lights, powdery slopes, and festive cheer make it an enchanting holiday destination. And one of the best parts about celebrating Christmas in a ski resort (apart from the skiing!) is the delicious Christmas food!
If you’re heading to La Plagne this Christmas for a magical ski holiday, then you’re probably looking for somewhere special to enjoy Christmas dinner, either UK style or French style! So, let's dive into the nitty-gritty of the best spots for your festive feast.

Restaurants accessible to non-skiers
1. Hotel Rhododendron / Bobsleigh Bar, Plagne 1800
Possibly the only place for a UK-style Christmas dinner in La Plagne. Head to Plagne 1800’s Hotel Rhododendron and its lively Bobsleigh Bar. Well-known for a fun and friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome, Bobsleigh Bar is a great stop for a UK-style Christmas dinner.

2. Expédition, Aime 2000
Expedition in Aime 2000 sets the scene for a magical Christmas dinner. This is one of our favourite stops for date night and the menu changes regularly to work with seasonal and local produce. There won’t be a UK Christmas dinner, but they will have something special cooking for Christmas.
Expédition is open every day for lunch and dinner.
3. La Face Nord, Belle Plagne
Belle Plagne‘s La Face Nord offers a unique dining experience with a quirky and colourful interior, and every corner is an Instagrammer's dream. The food will definitely be French in style, expect Oysters, Fois Gras and Bouche de Noël (Christmas Logs).
La Face Nord is open every day for lunch and dinner.
4. Hotel Carlina, Belle Plagne
Experience the festive ambience at Hotel Carlina in Belle Plagne. The hotel, of course, caters for its guests but also has a lovely public restaurant with a well-respected local chef. The Hotel Carlina is a great place to stop for a Christmas après ski hot chocolate, lunch or evening Christmas dinner.
Hotel Carlina is open daily for lunch and dinner in style.

5. Les Inversens
High up on the peak of the mountain at Roche de Mio, Les Inversens offers a scenic setting for your Christmas celebration. With fast self-service options and a more gourmet, seated lunch on their fabulous terrace, Les Inversens is a perfect spot to toast Christmas lunch.
Les Inversens is open when the pistes are and close at 430 pm daily.
6. Chalet L’Arpette
On the Arpette piste, just above Belle Plagne, Chalet L’Arpette boasts a cosy atmosphere and delightful Christmas offerings. They have fast, self-service options and also a seated menu. The sun terrace is massive, with fantastic views across the pistes and mountain range.
If you’re staying in Belle Plagne or Bellecôte, it’s also a great option for an après ski drink at the end of a ski day. But they close when the pistes close, at about 4: 45 pm.
7. La Bergerie
La Bergerie, on the Bergerie piste, is well known for its après ski on the snow. The food is fast and good, and this is the perfect spot for those looking for a Christmas lunch that slides into après ski celebrations! It is family-friendly, although I won’t blame you for leaving the kids behind and heading out to enjoy lunch and then adult-style après ski, Christmas style!
La Bergerie opens and closes with the pistes with the last orders at 430 pm daily.
8. Chalet du Plan Bois
Tucked away on the slopes down towards Montchavin, Chalet du Plan Bois promises a cosy setting and Christmas magic. With a super warm welcome, the menu is delicious, featuring local produce and traditional Savoyard recipes handed down through the family. Chalet du Plan Bois is something special for all the family this Christmas.

9. Roc des Blanchets, Champagny
Over on the Champagny side of La Plagne, Roc des Blanchets is one of my personal favourites for a mountain lunch. It sits at the top of the Borseliers chairlift and the bottom of the Rossa chairlift, with those huge views across towards the Vanoise glaciers.
This is a really lovely choice if your version of Christmas dinner is less about turkey and all the trimmings, and more about sitting up on the mountain with the family, eating proper French and Savoyard food while everyone is still in ski boots.
There’s a seated restaurant, plus self-service and snack options, but for Christmas I’d definitely book the restaurant and make a proper lunch of it. The menu focuses on traditional French and Savoyard cooking, with plenty of local produce.
Why I recommend it: I’ve eaten here plenty of times and it’s one of those restaurants I’m always happy to come back to. The food, the setting and the views make it feel properly special without it becoming overly formal, which is exactly what I want from Christmas lunch on skis.
As it’s a mountain restaurant, plan this one as a Christmas Day lunch rather than dinner, and check opening times and Christmas reservations directly with the restaurant before you go.
